Vyvyan Basterd

Vyvyan Basterd is a character from The Young Ones.

He is portrayed by Adrian Edmondson.

Vyvyan is a psychopathic punk metal medical student at Scumbag University who lives with three other guys, Rick (whom Vyvyan hates greatly), Neil, and Mike. Vyvyan is an extremely violent individual and regularly attacks Rick out of pure dislike. He attacks Neil as well, but doesn't have as much dislike towards him as he does Rick. The only one of his housemates he doesn't attack or dislike is Mike.

Vyvyan has a pet hamster SPG (Special Patrol Group), whom he cares for. However, SPG is still prone to Vyvyan's volatile temper and outbursts. SPG does get some payback for it from time to time. Despite his violent behavoir, Vyvyan can still be likable. He is shown to have signs of superhuman qualities, such as being decapitated (and surviving) and fixing his head back on, moving a wall with his hands, lifting someone above his head (shown with Neil), and having a pick axe through his head (and surviving). He is also able to eat ANYTHING, including televisions, bricks, etc.

Vyvyan and Rick hate each other greatly, which makes Rick the primary target of Vyvyan's violent attacks, even making attempts at Rick's life.

Neil[]

Vyvyan abuses Neil from time to time as well. However, Vyvyan doesn't actually hate Neil. His attacks on him are either out of boredom or his ironically trying to help him, such as trying to use a nail in place of a needle at an attempt of accupuncture.
