The Demogorgon existed was created within the Upside Down when Henry Creel arrived there. They were controled by a Hive Mind with a large amount of shadow, alien particles in a stormy cloud that would eventually become the Mind Flayer under Vecna's control. Before that, it is unknown if the Demogorgons are already a hostile species, as is implied by the first Demogorgon seen by Henry during his Upside Down exploration that they only become homicidal under Vecna's command.
At some point, the creature and other specimen like it were captured by the Soviets, and was taken to the Kamchatka gulag to feed on prisoners.

Chapter 2[]
It's a huge demogrgon like creature, it's a Demogrgon that Lincoln and Lydia know about but don't know about completely. Cassie is aware herself as she was also in contact with Dr.Owens as well.
The three are quick to notice it's shackled and Cassie decides that they should try to attack it, Lydia and Lincoln both know of it's weakness to fire and use it against it.
The Soviet Demogrogon swats at them with it's shackled claws though they do avoid the attacks and even tries to attack with it's own alien like dna. Cassie, Lydia and Lincoln all manage to cause some fire damage. Though as Lincoln note, it's not as effective as it is against other demogorgons.
The arm shackles break and The Soviet Demogrgon decides to rush at them and tries to poison them, Cassie keeps Lincoln and Lydia safe with her suit and manages to get their fire power to conitune aiming at the Soviet Demogorgon's and after a lot of progeess. Cassie takes the helm again and puts the smack down on the Soviet Demogrgon for the moment with the other two just watching Cassie fight. Cassie knows she can't kill it but at least is willing to nearlt defeat it so the Warden can't use it on anymore prisoners for a while.
As Cassie flies out, the two question why didn't she kill it. Cassie states she doesn't know how to but she knows it can be hurt. Her plan was to make sure something like that existed first and foremost.
In hindsight it make sense that Lydia and Lincoln were able to deal with this thing when Lydia went after Lincoln and Hilda to save them in Chang's Guide To The Galaxy.
Chapter 3[]
Truman, Mulder, Scully, Beckett and Sterling are all tossed into the cell and this is when The Warden opens the door and this is when the Soivet Demogrogon emerges out of the door having recovered from Lincoln, Lydia and Cassie's attack on it.
Mulder, Scully and Truman are familar with the Demogorgons, but they do admit that is seems different. Bekcett and Sterling inquire that this must have been the project which the three confirm is indeed the case
The Soviet Demogorgon leaps at the 5 of them.
All 5 of them have to resort to their wits as they don't have any weapons since CSM confiscated them. Truman, Scully and Mulder being familar with it know that they need to use fire or some kind of weapon to cut it up
The three basically use the time to make a kind of weapon to do this, Beckett and Sterling though aren't yielding and decide to stall The Soviet Demogrgon as Sterling and Beckett settle for doing so until Truman, Mulder and Scully are ready
The Soviet Demogrgon is however rather fast and almost manages to catch Beckett and Sterling until Beckett manages to make Sterling into a pidgeon to get away from this. This baffles the three as this kid made a biodynamic concealment.
Jack takes out of the guards with ease and enters the room where he sees Sterling, Beckett invading the Demogorgon and the latter does get to them. Jack sees Truman, Mulder and Scully and saves them too. Truman, Scully and Mulder have finished up their idea, they decided to start a huge fire to ensure it can be hurt or damaged. Jack takes out a flamethrower and gives them a kick start.
Truman, Jack, Mulder, Scully, Beckett and Sterling all manage to escape from The Soviet Demogorgon with Jack locking the door in turn
Chapter 4[]
Another Soviet Demogorgon is brought up by The Warden, Makarov and Berko. It's unsure how it appeared, either by inbreeding the orignial or by opening The Upside Down. The Soviet Demogorgon is set after Mulder and Scully who deal with them.
The Soviet Demogorgon is no different from the previous encounter, it's such they're not in a prison cell so they're able to have more at their diposoal against them. She is also quick to observe the other monsters that are going after The Xs and Troy as she and Mulder deal with The Demogrgon trying to deal with it as it's the 3rd one that they have. The 2nd one being taken out by them, Jack and Truman X.
Mulder and Scully realize that they are going to have use to do more than just shoot at or use fire on The Soviet Demogorgon, they need to get rid of the eggs that The Soviet Demorgorgon has layed for it's offspring.
Chapter 5[]
The Warden breeds another one for use, and decides with Makarov to use to kill The spies as a way of revenge on them. Using it, The Warden takes the heroes off guard and it nearly manages to kill the others in their tried state. It only retreats when Truman and Jack manage to keep it at bay
After capturing the others, The warden intends to use it to kill the group
Chapter 6[]
It tries to to kill Mulder and Scully, though it is put down once more for the count and Warden reveals he only has a few inbred ones.
Finale[]
Another inbred one appears to go with the heroes, and the others. It goes up against Hunson Abadeer and Maximus IQ and the former takes The Demogrogon and manages to defeat it and devours it. It is revealed that only one Soviet Demogorgon remains after him and Maximus seal off the Upside Down. The one that would menance the heroes under Belos and Vecna.
Chang's Guide To The Galaxy[]
Prologue[]
An Attack occurs and the hands of a Demogorgon which Lincoln recognizes and Hilda does too. Lincoln realizes that it's not the one they know and it's the Soviet one. Lincoln thought he and Lydia really killed it, and it startles him. Hilda asks Lincoln about it and Lincoln explains it's a unique Demogorgon from the upside down that he encountered which The Soviets keep prisoner
Lincoln and Hilda both are startled by it and it's held in place by Lydia who has the mind stone. Lydia asks if both of them are okay. Lincoln states he's fine and Hilda while grumping states she's fine
Lydia states that Truman and Larke were tracking this and found something. Lincoln asks if she brought the Ace Savry Costume, The David Steele Costume, or the Space Cowboy Triton Costume. Lydia states she has the latter, Lincoln puts it one and the two go after the Soviet Demogrogon. He convinves Hilda to help which she does at Lincoln's behalf
Lincoln, Hilda and Lydia all deal with the Soviet Demogrogon fighing it off with the mind stone, sword and space weaponry. While the three do manage to get the Soviet Demogorgon safe from the people. Though it's still taking hits and charges at the three.
Jaune shows up in time and attacks the Soviet Demogorgon with a slash with his sword and blinds it with throwing something into it to cause it to flee away as a dimension opens up. Hilda asks Jaune how he got here so fast, Jaune said Lydia told him that she sensed something and they both went to find their friends respectfully
Chapter 2[]
The Soviet Demogrogon remerges and Vecna has it target the trio. The Soviet Demogorgon attacks Lincoln, Hilda and Lydia once attack on the derby and Lydia tries to to deal with The Gauntlet before escaping to the House of Mirrors.
The Soviet One and the regular one and more demo bats and demodogs appear to attack Lincoln, Lydia and Hilda in the Bat Barn . Lincoln takes out his David Steele and Ace Savvy kit, Lydia gets her Infinity Gauntlets and the stones and Hilda equips her sword that Lincoln was holding on to the three dash at the Upside Down Citizens.
Lincoln, Lydia and Hilda are successful against the Demo dogs and Demobats. Though HIlda is once again distracted by Vecna's actions, pretending to see The Trundle trying to kill Lincoln and she rushes to save him. Lincoln states he was fine, Hilda states she though she saw The Trundle and wanted not to let him be hurt.
Lydia watches and decides a full play and uses 4 of the stones to get rid of the Upside Down residents and blind the Soviet Demogorgon from them. She hands the other 2 to Lincoln to help deal to save Flap
Chapter 3[]
Lydia, Ford, Truman and Mulder all run directly into a bunch of Demogrgons and one being the Soviet one that both Lydia and Mulder encountered at certain points. This is when Abomdinations show up and grab them and this is when Odalia appears.
Ford and Mulder continue fighting with Odalia for the music box, and almost get it into Odalia summits The Soviet Demogrgon off Truman and Lydia to keep it form doing so. Anne and Sasha however tag team it and Cricket taunts Odalia calling her a chicken and she does indeed runs after them. Ford then manages to steal the music box in turn and Mulder manages to stop Rainbird who tries to shoot them as well.
Ford then takes advantage of the debris and has Lydia use the Mind Stone to get away which she does and they all get away in turn with Anne and Sasha stunning the Soviet Demogorgo
Chapter 5[]
It joins it's orginial counterpart to go trail Bean and her friends for Dagmar which it more than does and Unlike it's original counterpart, it has the element of surprise even more so than the original. Though it is brought back by Dagmar on Vecna's orders as he will need for something else.
The Soviet Demogrgon's other task was to head to Hawkins and follow Ford, Hilda and the others into the Hawkins Lab on Vecna's orders, it attacks Hilda and Joanne with other beings from the upside down after Tzkekel and Trundle do their respective jobs to wear them down. It almost manages to make a snack out of them, until Mike shows up and contends with it having the being flee once he brings out the weakness it has.
Chapter 6[]
Vecna brings it with him in his showdown with his other henchmen with the Upside Down to after Sid, Luz, Marcy, Bender, Anti Cosmo, Slade and the others to get his hands on Luz and Hunter. While it's fearsome it ends up being brought down by them and the others.
Chapter 8[]
The Soviet Demogrogon is sent by Vecna to go after Truman to kill him to get back at Lincoln and Lydia. However both it and the regular one are attacked and slain by Truman, Anne, Sasha and Grime.
