Sinestro is the sadistic former Green Lantern and mentor of Hal Jordan turned terrorist leader of the Yellow Lantern Corps that relishes in slaughter. He is slowly revealed to be responsible for all the events in the film including corrupting Hal Jordan and assisting him in his ultimate plot to destroy the universe.
