Starting a war of invasion is not a laughing matter at all, not to mention of committing the actions that stepped on human rights. However, what is even more unforgivable and resentful than that is to blame everything on those who aren't responsible for it! Did Japan ever apologized and mended everything they did in World War II like how Germany atoned for Nazi's war crimes? Did American politicians and their pack of supporters ever stopped slandering us Chinese with prejudice? They blamed us and framed us for trying to push us down, saying we are committing persecution and forced labor in Xinjiang. Whereas in fact, THEY are the biggest persecuter against humanity and forced people into slavery and labors in their literally bloody history of capitalism's development! I dare say none of these slanderers had ever try to get closer to really know my motherland. I know those who do know China, those ordinary friend of mine, will never support anything like that. That Yellow Peril should be gone already. I'm not a racist. I'm just defending the truth.
Zhang Xiuying (Chinese: 张秀英, zhāng xiù yīng), also known as Zhang, the Number 1, the Scarlet Scorpion or simply the Scorpion, is the second-in-command of the mystics from Clan of Venomous Fists.
She is one of the main characters in LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow and its sequel, LOTM: Star Spangled Crown. She is the first Chinese character that was introduced in LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow and the main protagonist of the upcoming LOTM: Star Spangled Crown - Black Host Saga.
Being the favorite disciple of Madam Peony, the Scarlet Scorpion is the current master of Scorpion Fist and a reculuse who fights against supernatural threats. Her special abilities include kicking, medicinal knowledge and power to turn blood toxic through a mixture of grinded herbs.
The current Scorpion, Zhang Xiuying, holds the utmost loyalty towards her master and seniors, and has a perspective of materialist, not worshipping any deity and favoring using humanity's own strength to take care of the problems. She never believes in the Witnesses' tale, either, intepreting Ichabod's and Abbie's destiny are out of their own choice, particularly Abbie who once tried to run away from a chance to change everything.
However, the Scorpion is not entirely skeptical. Whilst not a religious person, she believes in supernatual and believes people have souls, although she inteprets demons more like paranormal monsters that harms humans.
Although not a seasoned witch at all, the Scorpion uses her own invented magic through medicinal formulas and martial arts. Throughout the story, Zhang had a rocky relationship with the Witnesses, but her determination over deciding her own fate as well as her fearless attitude towards Gods and demons (as well as destiny) has utterly impressed them.
She is an OC Character created by Officer Candy Apple from CIS Productions.

Animal Motif - Scorpions[]

Scorpions are predatory arachnids of the order Scorpiones. They have eight legs, and are easily recognized by a pair of grasping pincers and a narrow, segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back and always ending with a stinger. The evolutionary history of scorpions goes back 435 million years. They mainly live in deserts but have adapted to a wide range of environmental conditions, and can be found on all continents except Antarctica. There are over 2,500 described species, with 22 extant (living) families recognized to date. Their taxonomy is being revised to account for 21st-century genomic studies.
Scorpions primarily prey on insects and other invertebrates, but some species take vertebrates. They use their pincers to restrain and kill prey. Scorpions themselves are preyed on by larger animals. The venomous sting can be used both for killing prey and for defense. During courtship, the male and female scorpion grasp each other's pincers and move around in a "dance" where the male tries to maneuver the female onto his deposited sperm packet. Most species give live birth and the female cares for the young as their exoskeletons harden, transporting them on her back. The exoskeleton contains fluorescent chemicals and glows under ultraviolet light.
The vast majority of species do not represent a serious threat to humans, and healthy adults usually do not need medical treatment after being stung. Only about 25 species have venom capable of killing a human. In some parts of the world with highly venomous species, human fatalities regularly occur, primarily in areas with limited access to medical treatment. Scorpions with their powerful stingers appear in art, folklore, mythology, and commercial brands. Scorpion motifs are woven into kilim carpets for protection from their sting. Scorpius is the name of a constellation, and the corresponding astrological sign is Scorpio; a classical myth tells how the giant scorpion and its enemy, Orion, became constellations on opposite sides of the sky.

Physical Apperance[]
Personality[]
"Screw your so-called destiny! My destiny is decided by myself, not the Heaven!" |

The Scorpion sternly staring at Ichabod
Like her colleagues, the Scorpion is thoughroughly atheistical in spite of her mystic nature, intepreting Gods as mere supernatural and powerful beings as well as figures from legends and folklore, instead of some omnipotent figures that people will serve and worship. She openly proclaims that a prayer is only needed when you have everything well prepared beforehands, and what she believes in is creating miracles through her own hands. However, she remains neutruality upon religions and believes there is evil out there in the world.
The Scorpion also has a stern and patriotic side due to her military upbringing as well as her duty as a forest ranger, and her disgust over prejudice as well as racism is high. The patriotic feeling stems not from a political sense, but a moral sense, and she will return the favor once she heard any insults towards her friends whom she is fiercely loyal with.
Still, deep down the Scorpion is not without a compassionate and friendly side, and her strict side is much tolerable. The Scorpion is often prone to a fit anger towards all crimes and is a no-nonsence martial artist who fights for what is right without any hesitation, firmly believing one's life shall never be dependant upon chance, luck, destiny or fatith. As a result, she firmly believes that Ichabod chooses his own way to fight Moloch, meaning he himself chooses the First Witness' title, rather than the other way round or granted by God.

The Scorpion grinning
The Scorpion does not believe in destiny or the chosen one, either, saying the only people who can choose their heroic path and decide their destiny are themselves, and that is a true choice. She believes that people can be their own Gods, and the Witnesses is just a title, since anyone can proclaim themselves as saviors, but many of them are just exploiting such sort of proclamation as an excuse to maintain absolute authority. She believes that Ichabod, Abbie and Lara may have encountered demons through coincidence, but it is THEIR choice to fight against them, because she saw several more people who had similar experience to Ichabod and Abbie, but either ignored it or falling into the pit of darkness and despair.
Being chosen by deities, in the Scorpion's mind, is not taking a choice, but following the arrangement of someone else. She also, at times, questioned Ichabod what would happen if he chose not to turn against the British Army, but continued serving the puppets of demons in the army.
The Scorpion's point of view is similar to Carl Robinson, including her opinion about the Chosen One, but unlike Carl, she does not endorse mass murder as a way to solve anything lest it's not a last resort.

Trivia[]
- Zhang's position as the Scorpion is a homage to Gao Ji from Five Deadly Venoms, but only in a sense of fighting skills and animal motif. In the original 1987 Hong Kong film, the Scorpion is the main antagonist and one of the traitors, and his color theme is dark purple. Ironically, Zhang (Scorpion) is the first suspect that becomes a red herring to the real traitor, and she has to discover the real traitor and clear her name.
- Zhang and her companions pays homage to early martial artists in Chinese novels written by Wuxia novelists like Jin Yong and Gu Long.
- Zhang's berserk buttons include the violation of several principal of things in China, including violating the cross-strait relations, support to certain individuals that violated Chinese laws, towards slander from foreign politicians and medias, disregard over history, and sterotypical portrayal of Chinese and other Asians in fictional work.
- Being a person who is against xenophobia and racisms on both sides, Zhang believes that going abroad and meeting friends from foreign country is a part of her study. While she can tolerate some cultural difference and unintentional misunderstanding and will explain the truth in her ways, she won't tolerate insult and those who firmly believes in such misunderstanding.
- Zhang is the first Chinese character introduced in the story, followed by her father's best friend, Captain Wang Tiangui of Shanghai police. Like Ichabod and Abbie, neither of them have magic power or superpowers. They are examples badass normal and only fights through weapons, strategies and physical skills, which impressed several other characters after they accomplished a mission successfully and protected citizens from the Zodiac Blood Game as much as possible.
- Zhang is sort of an athetist and sees Gods as paranormal beings, instead of omnipotent beings that can decide fate and must be worshipped. Although, she maintains respect to Chinese deities and holds no grudge towards religious people, unless they're fanatical cult leaders that persecuted athetist and people from other religions. She believes hard work should be regarded as the key to success instead of simple preaching. She is also against religious fanatism and the Western political belief that the religious freedom could only be realized through the rule of religious people.
- At times, Zhang's characteristics and skills contains elements of Buddism, Taoism and Chinese folklores, which are more influential in Chinese folk culture than Christianity and Islam, which also have their place properly in China. This element also derived from Officer's own experience and thoughts as a Buddist as well as his view of Buddism art.
- She was also very courteous towards Nu Wa when she had met the goddess in her dream, seeing her as a builder of Chinese civilization of ancestry with respect and high regards.
- Whilst being a patriot, Zhang is against extreme jingoism amongst those around her. She would boycott a foreign brand if it made offensive or principle mistake/accusation, but she would mostly act on her own as a part of patriotic cause and would never force others to do so, much less breaking others' properties or harrassing clerks in related shops. She knew rousing was unnecessary as most people who were sensible would do the same right thing.
- She also greatly despised a small part of radical people who sabotaged other people's Japanese-brand car (like Toyota) simply because they blamed Japanese government's negative deeds on those cars in the name of patroitism (which did happened in early 2010s when China and Japan were in friction).

Ye Jianying[]

Ye Jianying (simplified Chinese: 叶剑英; traditional Chinese: 葉劍英; 28 April 1897 – 22 October 1986) was a Chinese communist revolutionary leader and politician, one of the founding Ten Marshals of the People's Liberation Army. He was the top military leader in the 1976 coup that overthrew the Gang of Four and ended the Cultural Revolution, and was the key supporter of Deng Xiaoping in his power struggle with Hua Guofeng. After Deng ascended power, Ye served as China's head of state as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 1978 to 1983.
Born Ye Yiwei (Chinese: 叶宜伟) into a wealthy Christian Hakka merchant family in Jiaying county (modern-day renamed as Meixian District), Guangdong, his courtesy name was Cangbai (滄白).
After graduation from the Yunnan Military Academy in 1919, he joined Sun Yat-sen and the Kuomintang (KMT). He taught at the Whampoa Military Academy, and in 1927 joined the Communist Party.
That year, he participated in the failed Nanchang Uprising and was forced to flee to Hong Kong with two other uprising leaders, Zhou Enlai and Ye Ting (no relation), with only a pair of handguns to share between them. Shortly after, he faithfully carried out his assigned duties during the Guangzhou Uprising, although he had been opposed to it; upon this uprising's failure he was once again obliged to flee to Hong Kong with Ye Ting and Nie Rongzhen. However, Ye was far more fortunate than Ye Ting, who was made a scapegoat for the Comintern's failures and forced into exile. Ye was not blamed, and subsequently studied military science in Moscow.
After returning to China in 1932 he joined the Jiangxi Soviet, serving as Chief of Staff of Zhang Guotao's Fourth Front Army. However, after Zhang's fighters met up with Mao Zedong's force during the Long March, the two leaders disagreed on the subsequent move of the Chinese Red Army. Zhang insisted on turning southward to establish a new base in the regions inhabited by Tibetan and Qiang minorities. (This later proved to be a disaster, as Mao had anticipated, with Zhang losing over 75% of his men and retreating to the Communist base at Shaanxi.) During the two leaders' disagreement, Ye – though he was Zhang's Chief of Staff – sided with Mao; and instead of supporting Zhang unconditionally as he had during the Guangzhou Uprising, Ye absconded to Mao's headquarters with Zhang's code books and maps. As a result, Zhang's communications with Comintern were cut, while Mao was able to establish a radio link, leading to Comintern's acceptance of Mao's leadership in the Communist Party of China. Mao would never forget Ye's contribution, observing later that "Ye Jianying saved the (Chinese Communist) Party, the (Chinese) Red Army, and the (Chinese) Revolution".
During the Long March, Ye assisted Liu Bocheng in directing the crossing of the Yangtze River at Anshunchang and Luding Bridge. After 1936, Ye became director of the offices that liaised with the KMT, first in Xi'an, then in Nanjing and finally in Chongqing. He worked together with Zhou Enlai in this capacity.
After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Ye was placed in charge of Guangdong, which was to cost him his political career under Mao's reign. Ye understood that the economic conditions in the province were very different from those in the rest of China, since most Cantonese landlords were peasants themselves who participated in production without exploiting their tenants. He therefore declined to dispossess the landlords, and instead protected their businesses and land. However, Ye's policies contradicted the general directives of the Party-mandated land reform, which emphasized class struggle. His policies deemed too soft, Ye and his local cadres were soon replaced by Lin Biao's, and a much harsher policy was implemented, with Ye's political career effectively over.
However, Mao did not forget what Ye had done for him during the Long March, and thus removed him only from political posts while preserving his military positions. As a result, until 1968, Ye remained active in various military functions, having been made a marshal in 1955. Ye was clever in using his military influence to provide limited support and protection for reformers like Zhao Ziyang, and he was responsible for interfering with assassination attempts on Deng Xiaoping during the Cultural Revolution.
After Lin Biao was overthrown and died in 1971, Ye's influence grew, and in 1975 he was appointed Defense Minister, taking Lin Biao's post. From 1973, he was also a Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
He led the plan of generals and Party elders that overthrew Jiang Qing and the Gang of Four; during initial planning at his residence, he and Li Xiannian communicated by writing, although they sat next to each other, because of the possibility of bugging.
Thanks to Ye's support of Chairman Hua Guofeng, he was confirmed as party vice-chairman at the Eleventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1977. Because the physical demands of Defense Minister were too great for the octogenarian Ye, he resigned from that position in 1978 and was appointed Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, filling a post left unoccupied since Zhu De's death in 1976. As such, Ye was China's ceremonial Head of State. Ye retired from this position in 1983 and in 1985 he withdrew completely from the Politburo Standing Committee. He died a little over a year later at the age of 89.
Li Shizhen[]

Li Shizhen (July 3, 1518 – 1593), courtesy name Dongbi, was a Chinese acupuncturist, herbalist, naturalist, pharmacologist, physician, and writer of the Ming dynasty. He is the author of a 27-year work, found in the Compendium of Materia Medica (Bencao Gangmu (Chinese: 本草綱目). He developed several methods for classifying herb components and medications for treating diseases.
The Compendium is a materia medica text with 1,892 entries, with details about more than 1,800 drugs (Chinese Medicine), including 1,100 illustrations and 11,000 prescriptions. It also described the type, form, flavor, nature and application in disease treatments of 1,094 herbs. The book has been translated into several languages. The treatise included various related subjects such as botany, zoology, mineralogy, and metallurgy. Five original editions still exist.
In addition to Compendium of Materia Medica, Li Shizhen wrote eleven other books, including Binhu Maixue (Pin-hu Mai-hsueh; 瀕湖脈學; "A Study of the Pulse") and Qijing Bamai Kao (Chi-ching Pa-mai Kao; 奇經八脈考; "An Examination of the Eight Extra Meridians"). He lived during the Ming Dynasty and was influenced by the Neo-Confucian beliefs of the time. He was born in what is today Qizhou, Qichun County, Hubei on July 3, 1518 AD and died 75 years later, in 1593.
Li Shizhen' grandfather was a doctor who traveled the countryside and was considered relatively low on the social scale of the time. His father was a traditional physician and scholar who had written several influential books. He encouraged his son to seek a government position. Li took the national civil service exam three times, but after failing each one, he turned to medicine. At 78, his father took him on as an apprentice. When he was 38, and a practicing physician, he cured the son of the Prince of Chu and was invited to be an official there. A few years after, he got a government position as assistant president at the Imperial Medical Institute in Beijing. However, even though he had climbed the social ladder, as his father had originally wanted, he left a year later to return to being a doctor.
In his government position, Li was able to read rare medical books. He began correcting some of the mistakes and conflicting information in these medical publications. He soon began the book Compendium of Materia Medica to compile correct information with a logical system of organization. A small part was based on another book which had been written several hundred years earlier, Jingshi Zhenglei Beiji Bencao (Ching-hsih Cheng-lei Pei-chi Pen-tsao; "Classified Materia Medica for Emergencies") – which, unlike many other books, had formulas and recipes for most of the entries. In the writing of the Compendium of Materia Medica, he travelled, gaining first-hand experience with many herbs and local remedies and consulted over 800 books.
Altogether, the writing of Compendium of Materia Medica took 27 years, which included three revisions. Ironically, writing the book allegedly took a toll on his health. It was rumored that he stayed indoors for ten consecutive years during the writing of the Compendium of Materia Medica. After he had completed it, a friend “reported that Li was emaciated.”
Li died before the book was officially published, and the Ming emperor at the time paid it little regard.
The mineral lishizhenite, described in 1990, is named in his honor.
Kublai Khan[]

Kublai (/ˈkuːblaɪ/; Mongolian: Хубилай, romanized: Hubilai; Chinese: 忽必烈; pinyin: Hūbìliè; 23 September 1215 – 18 February 1294), also known as the Emperor Shizu of Yuan, was the fifth khagan-emperor of the Mongol Empire, reigning from 1260 to 1294, although after the division of the empire this was a nominal position. He also founded the Yuan dynasty of China in 1271, and ruled as the first Yuan emperor until his death in 1294.
Kublai was the fourth son of Tolui (his second son with Sorghaghtani Beki) and a grandson of Genghis Khan. He was almost 12 years of age when Genghis Khan died and had succeeded his older brother Möngke as Khagan in 1260, but had to defeat his younger brother Ariq Böke in the Toluid Civil War lasting until 1264. This episode marked the beginning of the fragmentation of the empire. Kublai's real power was limited to the Yuan Empire, even though as Khagan he still had influence in the Ilkhanate and, to a significantly lesser degree, in the Golden Horde. If one considers the Mongol Empire at that time as a whole, his realm reached from the Pacific Ocean to the Black Sea, from Siberia to what is now Afghanistan.
In 1271, Kublai established the Yuan dynasty, which ruled over present-day China, Mongolia, Korea, and some adjacent areas; he also amassed influence in the Middle East and Europe as a Khagan. He assumed the role of Emperor of China. By 1279, the Mongol conquest of the Song dynasty was completed and Kublai became the first non-Han emperor to unite all of China proper.
The imperial portrait of Kublai was part of an album of the portraits of Yuan emperors and empresses, now in the collection of the National Palace Museum in Taipei. White, the color of the imperial costume of Kublai, was the imperial color of the Yuan dynasty.

Salvador Guillermo Allende Gossens (US: /ɑːˈjɛndeɪ, -di/, UK: /æˈ-, aɪˈɛn-/, American Spanish: [salβaˈðoɾ ɣiˈʝeɾmo aˈʝende ˈɣosens]; 26 June 1908 – 11 September 1973) was a Chilean physician and democratic socialist politician, who served as the 28th president of Chile from 3 November 1970 until his death on 11 September 1973. He was the first Marxist to be elected president in a liberal democracy in Latin America.
Allende's involvement in Chilean politics spanned a period of nearly forty years, having covered the posts of senator, deputy and cabinet minister. As a life-long committed member of the Socialist Party of Chile, whose foundation he had actively contributed to, he unsuccessfully ran for the national presidency in the 1952, 1958, and 1964 elections. In 1970, he won the presidency as the candidate of the Popular Unity coalition, in a close three-way race. He was elected in a run-off by Congress as no candidate had gained a majority.
As president, Allende sought to nationalize major industries, expand education and improve the living standards of the working class. He clashed with the right-wing parties that controlled Congress and with the judiciary. On 11 September 1973, the military moved to oust Allende in a coup d'état supported by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). As troops surrounded La Moneda Palace, he gave his last speech vowing not to resign. Later that day, Allende committed suicide.
Following Allende's death, General Augusto Pinochet refused to return authority to a civilian government, and Chile was later ruled by a military junta that ruled until 1990, ending more than four decades of uninterrupted democratic governance. The military junta that took over dissolved the Congress of Chile, suspended the Constitution, and began a persecution of alleged dissidents, in which at least 3,095 civilians disappeared or were killed.
Yuri Andropov[]

Yuri Vladimirovich Andropov (15 June [O.S. 2 June] 1914 – 9 February 1984) was the sixth paramount leader of the Soviet Union and the fourth General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Following the 18-year rule of Leonid Brezhnev, Andropov served in the post from November 1982 until his death in February 1984.
Earlier in his career, Andropov served as the Soviet ambassador to Hungary from 1954 to 1957, during which time he was involved in the suppression of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. He was named Chairman of the KGB on 10 May 1967. In this position, he oversaw a massive crackdown on dissent carried out via mass arrests and the involuntary psychiatric commitment of people deemed "socially undesirable". After Brezhnev suffered a stroke in 1975 impairing his ability to govern, Andropov effectively dictated Soviet policymaking alongside Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko and Defense Ministers Andrei Grechko (1967—1976) and Dmitry Ustinov (1976—1983) for the rest of Brezhnev’s rule.
Upon Brezhnev's death on 10 November 1982, Yuri Andropov succeeded him as General Secretary and (by extension) leader of the Soviet Union. During his short tenure, Andropov sought to eliminate corruption and inefficiency within the Soviet system by investigating longtime officials for violations of party discipline and criminalizing truancy in the workplace. The Cold War intensified, and he was at a loss for how to handle the growing crisis in the Soviet economy. His major long-term impact was bringing to the fore a new generation of young reformers, as energetic as himself, including Yegor Ligachyov, Nikolai Ryzhkov, and, most importantly, Mikhail Gorbachev. However, upon suffering kidney failure in February 1983, Andropov's health began to deteriorate rapidly. On 9 February 1984, he died after leading the country for only about 15 months.
Seti I[]

Menmaatre Seti I (or Sethos I in Greek) was a pharaoh of the New Kingdom Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt, the son of Ramesses I and Sitre, and the father of Ramesses II. As with all dates in Ancient Egypt, the actual dates of his reign are unclear, and various historians claim different dates, with 1294 BC to 1279 BC and 1290 BC to 1279 BC being the most commonly used by scholars today.
The name 'Seti' means "of Set", which indicates that he was consecrated to the god Set (also termed "Sutekh" or "Seth"). As with most pharaohs, Seti had several names. Upon his ascension, he took the prenomen "mn-m3‘t-r‘ ", usually vocalized as Menmaatre, in Egyptian, which means "Established is the Justice of Re." His better known nomen, or birth name, is transliterated as "sty mry-n-ptḥ" or Sety Merenptah, meaning "Man of Set, beloved of Ptah". Manetho incorrectly considered him to be the founder of the 19th Dynasty, and gave him a reign length of 55 years, though no evidence has ever been found for so long a reign.
Qiu Jin[]

Qiu Jin (Chinese: 秋瑾; pinyin: Qiū Jǐn; Wade–Giles: Ch'iu Chin; November 8, 1875 – July 15, 1907) was a Chinese revolutionary, feminist, and writer. Her courtesy names are Xuanqing (Chinese: 璿卿; pinyin: Xuánqīng) and Jingxiong (simplified Chinese: 竞雄; traditional Chinese: 競雄; pinyin: Jìngxióng). Her sobriquet name is Jianhu Nüxia (simplified Chinese: 鉴湖女侠; traditional Chinese: 鑑湖女俠; pinyin: Jiànhú Nǚxiá) which, when translated literally into English, means "Woman Knight of Mirror Lake". Qiu was executed after a failed uprising against the Qing dynasty, and she is considered a national heroine in China; a martyr of republicanism and feminism.
Born in Xiamen, Fujian,[1] Qiu grew up in her ancestral home, Shanyin Village[citation needed], Shaoxing, Zhejiang. While in an unhappy marriage, Qiu came into contact with new ideas. She became a member of the Tongmenghui secret society[2] who at the time advocated the overthrow of the Qing and restoration of Han Chinese governance.
In 1903, she decided to travel overseas and study in Japan, leaving her two children behind. She initially entered a Japanese language school in Surugadai, but later transferred to the Girls' Practical School in Kōjimachi, run by Shimoda Utako. Qiu was fond of martial arts, and she was known by her acquaintances for wearing Western male dress and for her nationalist, anti-Manchu ideology. She joined the anti-Qing society Guangfuhui, led by Cai Yuanpei, which in 1905 joined together with a variety of overseas Chinese revolutionary groups to form the Tongmenghui, led by Sun Yat-sen.
Within this Revolutionary Alliance, Qiu was responsible for the Zhejiang Province. Because the Chinese overseas students were divided between those who wanted an immediate return to China to join the ongoing revolution and those who wanted to stay in Japan to prepare for the future, a meeting of Zhejiang students was held to debate the issue. At the meeting, Qiu allied unquestioningly with the former group and thrust a dagger into the podium, declaring: "If I return to the motherland, surrender to the Manchu barbarians, and deceive the Han people, stab me with this dagger!"[citation needed] She subsequently returned to China in 1906 along with some 2,000 other students.[8]
Whilst still based in Tokyo, Qiu single-handedly edited a journal entitled Vernacular Journal (Baihua Bao). The journal published a number of issues using vernacular Chinese as a medium of revolutionary propaganda. In one issue, Qiu wrote a manifesto entitled "A Respectful Proclamation to China's 200 Million Women Comrades", where she lamented the problems caused by bound feet and oppressive marriages[9]. Having suffered from both ordeals herself, Qiu explained her experience in the manifesto and received an overwhelmingly sympathetic response from her readers.[10] Also outlined in the manifesto was Qiu's belief that a better future for women lay under a Western-type government instead of the Qing government that was in power at the time. She joined forces with her cousin Xu Xilin[5] and together they worked to unite many secret revolutionary societies to work together for the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty.
She was an eloquent orator who spoke out for women's rights, such as the freedom to marry, freedom of education, and abolishment of the practice of foot binding. In 1906 she founded a radical women's journal with another female poet, Xu Zihua, called China Women's News (Zhongguo nü bao), though it published only two issues before it was closed by the authorities.[13] In 1907 she became head of the Datong school in Shaoxing, ostensibly a school for sport teachers, but really intended for the military training of revolutionaries.
On July 6, 1907 Xu Xilin was caught by the authorities before a scheduled uprising in Anqing. He confessed his involvement under torture and was executed. On July 12, the authorities arrested Qiu at the school for girls where she was the principal. She was tortured as well but refused to admit her involvement in the plot. Instead the authorities used her own writings as incrimination against her and, a few days later, she was publicly beheaded in her home village, Shanyin, at the age of 31[14].
Huang Feihong[]

Wong Fei-hung (born Wong Sek-cheung with the courtesy name Tat-wun; 9 July 1847 – 17 April 1925) was a Chinese martial artist, physician, and folk hero. He has become the subject of numerous martial arts films and television series. He was considered an expert in the Hung Ga style of Chinese martial arts. As a physician, Wong practised and taught acupuncture, Dit Da and other forms of traditional Chinese medicine in Po Chi Lam (宝芝林; 寶芝林; Bǎozhīlín; Bou2-zi1-lam4), a medical clinic in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. A museum dedicated to him was built in his birthplace in Foshan City, Guangdong Province.
Among Wong's students, the more notable ones include Lam Sai-wing (林世榮; Lin Shirong), Leung Foon (梁寬; Liang Kuan), Dang Fong (Deng Fang), and Ling Wan-kai (凌雲階; Ling Yunjie).
Wong is sometimes incorrectly identified as one of the "Ten Tigers of Canton". His father, Wong Kei-ying, was one of the ten but Wong himself was not. Wong is also sometimes referred to as the "Tiger after the Ten Tigers".
Mu Guiying[]

Mu Guiying (穆桂英) is a legendary heroine from ancient China's Northern Song Dynasty and a prominent figure in the Generals of the Yang Family legends. She is the wife of Yang Zongbao and mother of Yang Wenguang. Brave, resolute and loyal, Mu is the cultural symbol of a steadfast woman.
Mu Guiying practiced martial arts from a young age after her bandit father Mu Yu (穆羽) who ruled the Muke Fortress (穆柯寨). One day Yang Zongbao, the youngest warrior of the illustrious Yang clan, came to the fortress demanding the Dragon-Taming Wood (降龍木) on the order of his father, Marshall Yang Yanzhao. Mu refused so they fought in a duel which resulted in Yang Zongbao being captured. While Yang Zongbao refused to surrender and demanded death, Mu found herself attracted to her prisoner and boldly made a marriage proposal, which Yang Zongbao eventually accepted. After Yang Zongbao returned and reported the events, an infuriated Yang Yanzhao ordered the disgraced son executed. To save Yang Zongbao, Mu came out of the fortress and engaged in a battle with Yang Yanzhao, also capturing him. Mu apologized to her future father-in-law and finally Yang Yanzhao agreed to the marriage and welcomed Mu to his family and troops.
Mu played a huge part in the following battle against the Khitan forces, especially in breaking their previously unstoppable Heavenly Gate Formation (天門陣). Mu Guiying had 2 children with Yang Zongbao, son Yang Wenguang and daughter Yang Jinhua.
Huo Yuanjia[]

Huo Yuanjia (18 January 1868 – 9 August 1910), courtesy name Junqing, was a Chinese martial artist and a co-founder of the Chin Woo Athletic Association, a martial arts school in Shanghai. A practitioner of the martial art mizongyi, Huo is considered a hero in China for defeating foreign fighters in highly publicised matches at a time when Chinese sovereignty was being eroded by foreign imperialism, concessions and spheres of influence. Due to his heroic status, the legends and myths surrounding events in his life are difficult to discern from facts.
In 1902, Huo responded to a challenge advertised by a Russian wrestler in Xiyuan Park, Tianjin. The wrestler openly called the Chinese "sick men of Asia" because no one accepted his challenge to a fight. The Russian forfeited when Huo accepted his challenge and told Huo that he was merely putting on a performance to make a living and apologised for his earlier remark in the newspaper.
Between 1909 and 1910, Huo travelled to Shanghai twice to accept an open challenge posed by an Irish boxer, Hercules O'Brien. The two of them had arguments over the rules governing such boxing matches and eventually agreed that whoever knocked down his opponent would be the victor. O'Brien fought Huo and lost. Huo's victory was a great inspiration to the Chinese people and had them questioning the basis of imperialistic dominance. However, there is a lot of controversy over whether the fight ever took place. A recent article states that O'Brien opted to leave town instead.
Between 1909 and 1910, Huo founded the Chin Woo Physical Training Centre (精武体操会) (later renamed to "Chin Woo Athletic Association") with his close friend Nong Jinsun, who served as the president of the association, Huo was encouraged by his close friends and was sponsored by Sun Yat-sen and Song Jiaoren, who were living in Tokyo. The centre was meant to be a school for learning the arts of self-defence and improvement of health and mind.
Huo suffered from jaundice and tuberculosis and started seeing a Japanese physician for medication and treatment. The physician, who was a member of the Japanese Judo Association in Shanghai, invited Huo to a competition upon hearing of the latter's fame. Huo's student, Liu Zhensheng, competed with a judo practitioner. Although there were disputes over who won the match, both sides generally agreed that the disagreement culminated in a brawl and that members of the judo team were injured, some with broken fingers and hands, including the head instructor. Huo died in 1910 at the age of 42. He was survived by his wife Ms. Wang (王氏; given name unknown) (1869?–1960), two sons Huo Dongzhang (霍東章) and Huo Dongge (霍東閣), and three daughters Huo Dongru (霍東茹), Huo Dongling (霍東玲) and Huo Dongqin (霍東琴).
Huo's life has been adapted into films and television series. In these adaptations, Huo is typically depicted as a heroic martial artist who fights to uphold the dignity of the Chinese people in the face of foreign aggression. He is secretly poisoned to death by foreigners, usually the Japanese, who see him as a threat to their exploitation of China. A notable feature in some of these adaptations is the appearance of Chen Zhen, a fictional character first portrayed by Bruce Lee in the 1972 film Fist of Fury. In the film, Chen Zhen is one of Huo's apprentices. He brings his teacher's murderers to justice and ensures that Huo's legacy, the Jingwu School and "Jingwu Spirit", continues to live on. Notable actors who have portrayed Huo on screen include: Wong Yuen-sun, in The Legendary Fok (1981); Bryan Leung, in Legend of a Fighter (1982); Eddy Ko, in Fist of Fury (1995); Vincent Zhao, in Huo Yuanjia (2001); Jet Li, in Fearless (2006); Ekin Cheng, in Huo Yuanjia (2008).
Fictional Inspirations[]
Natarle Badgiruel[]

Natarle Badgiruel (ナタル・バジルール Nataru Bajirūru) is a supporting character that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Natarle comes from a long family history of honor and prestige to the Earth Alliance, it was natural for her to continue the lineage as a career soldier. As an officer, she's less emotional, caring, strict, and by-the-book when it comes to taking action. Because of her constant soldier mentality, it often makes her less likable, but also maintains perspective in terms of tactical and military decisions.
She's a strong supporter to the Alliance. Although she is shocked upon hearing that her superiors were planning to sacrifice her former crewmates along with the Eurasian forces at the Battle of JOSH-A, she accepted the Alliance's decision. After the Earth Alliance destroys Boaz with nuclear missiles, Natarle began to seriously question whether or not she is doing the right thing. When Azrael orders the Dominion to kill Captain Ramius and the rest of her former crewmates on board the Archangel she does defy his orders.
Natarle is least understood by her peers. She has been driven to be a career soldier so long that people forget that she's still a woman. Driven by her sense of duty and emotional protective nature, she never showed her softer side for people to appreciate. It was only in the final moments of her life that she finally broke her mold and listened to her heart.
Hughie Campbell (The Boys TV Series)[]

Hugh "Hughie" Campbell, Jr. is the deuteragonist of its 2019 Amazon Prime adaptation, The Boys. Hughie has a mediocre life. He’s a mild-mannered guy with a boring job, who still lives at home with his Dad — in the same bedroom he grew up in. The only light in his life is the love of his life: his girlfriend, Robin. That is, until a speedster superhero named A-Train runs through Robin, eviscerating and killing her on impact. Desperate for revenge, Hughie’s recruited by anti-“Supe” vigilante Billy Butcher, and Hughie’s world is turned upside down as he finds himself caught in the middle of a war against superheroes – who, as it turns out, are neither super nor heroic.
Hughie was kind, compassionate, intelligent, and timid, as hinted to during his interactions with Robin in The Name of the Game. After Robin's death, Hughie became more aggressive and desired revenge. He was plagued by anxiety after the traumatic events he endured and frequently experienced small panic attacks. Despite this, he had a strong desire to pursue his goals and help Butcher and The Boys, using his willpower to control his emotions when talking to A-Train. Hughie often let his anger blind him and cause him to make irrational decisions, as seen when he used Starlight to get a pass with Ezekiel, but his apologetic nature caused him to feel remorse for his actions.
He is portrayed by Jack Quaid in the TV series. He voiced Brad Boimler in the Paramount+ animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Saint of Killers[]

The Saint of Killers (real name: William) is a major antagonist of the Preacher comic book series and AMC's television series.
During the 1800s, he served in the Confederate States Army in the 4th Virginia Infantry. During the Battle of Gettysburg, he killed 77 men, earning himself the nickname; the Butcher of Gettysburg.
After he died, he was sent to Hell. There, he was forced to relive his family's death over and over. Each time, he slaughtered everyone in Ratwater as vengeance for all eternity. The Saint eventually had a visit from two angels named DeBlanc and Fiore, where they offered to release him from Hell if he killed Jesse Custer and retrieved Genesis, a powerful entity that possesses Jesse's body.
After being released from Hell, the Saint is hellbent on killing Jesse. Eventually, the Saint of Killers was given an extract of Jesse's soul, making him vulnerable to Genesis. He was then locked up in a truck beneath the Angelville swamps. He was later used by the Grail, only to be turned over to Superintendent Mannering.
The Saint is a very vengeful man. Though despite his fearsome reputation, the Saint was a loving husband and father, attempting to live a normal life and doing everything in his power to protect his family. However, when they died, the last piece of good in him died as well, with his soul literally shattering into pieces and scattering across the world. In his fury, he slaughtered the entire town of Ratwater, including the children as an act of vengeance.
Upon his resurrection, he is shown to be a very remorseless killer, as he ruthlessly slaughters anyone who gets in his way. After Jesse tricks and traps him, he becomes fixated on exacting revenge on the preacher. Despite lacking a soul, he still deeply cares for his family, as talking about them is a certain way to expose his wrath. The Saint went as far as to rip out Sidney's eyes for making fun of their deaths and kill Satan for his involvement in their deaths and for torturing him. He also seems to have developed somewhat of a compassion for Eugene, sticking up for him whenever Satan struck him.
Agent 47[]

Agent 47 is an assassin/hitman and the titular protagonist hero/villain of the Hitman video game series. Although he is the protagonist, his works and doings have made him infamous as a professional assassin. He is employed by the ICA (International Contract Agency) to carry out hits for their clients, and has since become renowned as one the ICA's most superior assassins, and a strategically valued asset. The part that is also frequently overlooked is that most villains in Hitman series are depraved and extremely evil figures who deserve no sympathy when they die at the hands of Agent 47, but this absolutely does not mean Agent 47 is a do-gooder, as in fact, if he is assigned to assassinate a good person, he would with cold-hearted efficiency.
Even though 47 is a relatively emotionless assassin, he shows signs of morality, seen in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin confessing his sins to Father Vittorio. Subsequently, he is also depressed at the apparent loss of his spiritual guide that he agrees to take on the "suicide mission" of killing Deewana Ji. In HITMAN™, after Club 27, Agent 47 reacts to Diana's concerns over the Shadow Client's actions with "So what that someone got rich? The contract was just." The novels often have him pondering the question of his own morality and values.
His absolute highest priority is completing his contract. He will sacrifice innocents if he must, but he will kill the target (although it remains a part of his dedication to professionalism to avoid any collateral). He is emotionally closed off to the suffering of others when appropriate on a contract, even if they remind him of himself at a younger age. Vocally, he rarely raises his voice, choosing to speak in a calm and relaxed manner at all times. When speaking to another person, he can perfectly mask his true intentions (whatever they might be) and fool the other party with no effort; one of his many strengths is being an expert conversationalist. In addition to that, he can blend into the crowd and adapt his personality to suit any situation, and play the role of another person with the utmost efficiency and credibility, like a "Wolf in Sheep's clothing." He is content with being alone but has a deep if unexpressed admiration for the few people he becomes close to, especially Diana Burnwood, Fr. Emilio Vittorio, Helen McAdams, Victoria and Tommy Clemenza. Agent 47 also shows uncharacteristic sensitivity towards animals that he keeps as pets, such as his childhood rabbit and mouse he found from the asylum itself, and the yellow canary in Hitman: Blood Money (though he is forced to kill it in the cut-scene before Requiem in order to avoid giving his position away). He very rarely shows the same care towards human beings, though notable exceptions include Mei Ling, Father Vittorio, and Victoria (whom 47 and Diana treat sort of like a daughter). He also expressed his disgust at exploiting innocent people, as mentioned during the briefing in Death Factory, when he lamented at how Travis and Blake Dexter used "children as weapons."
Agent 47 approaches his assassinations with professionalism but will, however, not show any hesitation or remorse when it comes to killing or silencing witnesses and other potential threats to his mission. Agent 47 generally speaks in a monotone, proper, non-threatening tone, rarely swearing, or even raising his voice. 47 also has a blank and somewhat sinister facial expression, often scanning the scene with his eyes; the only other facial expression 47 has been known to show is pain. Agent 47 is an accomplished conversationalist despite the fact he's extremely reserved, able to fool and manipulate people with convincing lies and bluffs. Hitman: Enemy Within shows that he has the capability to act far out of his normal personality to imitate people, such as a cocky womanizing biker.
Both Hitman novels as well as some portions of Hitman: Absolution show a side of 47 he rarely shows. When out of his element or not on assignment, 47 occasionally shows behavior similar to ordinary people. In Hitman: Enemy Within, he is shown cursing when under frustration, as well as rarely sharing jokes with Diana. But more often than not, he prefers to share little words and keeps to himself.
Given his fee, Agent 47 would have to be a multi-millionaire from his contract earnings but never stops going for new contracts. He only spends his money on simple things like food, suits, gear, and shelter, although he is also known to donate some of it to Father Vittorio. 47 maintains multiple safe houses worldwide, each containing the bare necessities that 47 needs to prepare and execute a contract or lay low. 47 never remains at one safe house for very long, always moving to a different location to stay on the move until he is given a new contract. He does have a particular taste for expensive clothing (suits) and fine dining.
Knowing this it can be determined that 47 does his work as a hitman for more than just money, but for purpose in life. This is further demonstrated when he did not retrieve the ten million dollar ransom suitcase Blake Dexter had when he eliminated him but instead let Victoria dump the money on Dexter's body and fly off into the breeze. It is stated that he has to work as a hitman, since trying to live a "normal" life will endanger those around him, such as what happened in the second game, showing he does show concern to other human beings.
Tanjiro Kamado[]

Tanjiro Kamado (竈門かまど 炭たん治じ郎ろう, Kamado Tanjirō) is the main protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is also the older brother of Nezuko Kamado. He is a Kanoe ranked Demon Slayer and a member of the Demon Slaying Corps. He is hunting down the demon who is responsible for the murder of his family and his sister's transformation into one.
Tanjiro is kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes. He exhibits a great deal of determination and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; the best example of this being his relentless quest to find a cure for Nezuko. Even though he is relatively strong on his own, Tanjiro isn't opposed to asking others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends and even more so of his younger sister. However, despite his kind and understanding nature, Tanjiro does have a limit to his tolerance and has a distaste for rudeness, as he easily becomes annoyed by Zenitsu Agatsuma's constant whining, and angered by Inosuke Hashibira's barbaric actions.
Tanjiro's most notable attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons, which often made him hesitate before delivering the final blow. This moment of hesitation has a downside, as it has allowed some Demons to take advantage of Tanjiro's understanding nature to recover and continue the fight, though this occurs rarely. However, as Tanjiro gains experience over the years of his service, he becomes more calculating and strict in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak commits him to face his enemy with respect and dignity, whether versus good people or evil Demons.
Lieutenant Zofia[]

Lieutenant Zofia is a Soviet intelligence officer and a major character in the Soviet campaign of Command & Conquer: Red Alert.
Lieutenant Zofia provided support for the Soviet Commander in his campaigns to conquer the USA and Europe and defend the Soviet Union from attacks. After Yuri took over the Soviets, Zofia joined the resistance against him and delivered a video tape from the deceased premier Alexander Romanov telling the Commander, the leader of the resistance, to avenge him and stop Yuri.
In Yuri's Revenge, lthough the Soviets were defeated by the Allies, Lt. Zofia was among the few who did not surrender to them. As part of a resistance movement, she was in contact with the imprisoned premier Romanov, who briefed them of an Allied time machine in San Francisco. Having traveled back in time to the start of the Third World War, Zofia reprised her role of the Commander's intelligence officer. By the end of the conflict, she had developed an unprofessional interest for the Commander.
Zofia's whereabouts after that are unknown.
Asta[]

Asta is the main protagonist in the series, Black Clover. He is an orphan who was raised at a church in the village called Hage. He's a wielder of the 5-leaf clover grimoire, as well as a member of the Black Bulls and the Royal Knights. He's a 3rd Class Junior Magic Knight.
Asta generally is a cheerful and hyperactive boy. He tends to shout a lot to express his thoughts and expresses his goals, without a care in the world for other people's opinions, as seen when he expressed his goal on becoming a Wizard King during the Magic Knights entrance exam, where he tells other people who disagree with him to be quiet. His strong tenacity interests Yami Sukehiro enough to recruit him into his ranks. His strong determination also leads him to have a strong will to never give up and keep standing during difficult battles, as acknowledged by Magna Swing.
Because of his upbringing at the Forsaken region, Asta frequently receives harsh opinions and insults from almost everyone he meets. This makes Asta have a slightly sarcastic nature as he tries to defend himself. But, having received harsh opinions from others, Asta has developed an immunity to them as he could easily brush them off without getting overly irritated. However, Asta is still annoyed when others deeply insult his comrades; he will not hesitate to confront them as he comes to the defense of his friends.
Asta also has a very strong sense of justice, which is shown during his fight against Heath Grice, as he believes that everyone deserves to be protected. It is also not limited to only his comrades but his enemies as well, as noted when he asks his fellow squadmates to take the unconscious Mars along with them while the dungeon is collapsing. He argues that their mission is only to explore a dungeon as they are not ordered to kill any enemies. Therefore, Asta seems to see the positive side of everyone and never takes an insult too seriously, as seen when he still befriends both Yuno and Noelle Silva even after both given him harsh opinions.
His open, friendly and non judgmental attitude and indomitable will and stubborness has earned him hig regards of almost everybody he crosses paths with, even nobles such as Klaus and Fuegoleon Vermillion. It has also earned him the affection of plenty of girls, though due to having his heart set on Sister Lily he is highly oblivious to the fact.
He is voiced by Gakuto Kajiwara in the Japanese version of the anime, and by Dallas Reid in the English version of the anime.
Jing Tianming[]

Jing Tianming is the main protagonist of Legend of Qin franchise. He is a young boy who is the son of the legendary assassin Jing Ke. Looks up to Ge Nie, and calls him uncle. Has rather amateur combat skills but it does not stop him from standing up to others and giving others hope. He has a curse mark at the side of his neck that causes pain when it activated.
In the first 2 seasons, he often goofs off, insults people, and causes worry among everyone due to his recklessness. But as the series goes on, he stands up for people (particularly Shi Lan and the Unparalleled Demon), knows and takes the responsibilities of being the new Mohist leader, and treats people more with sincere respect.
Brooks Thompson[]

Brooke Thompson is a wide-eyed ingenue whose new friends coerce her into spending a hellish summer at Camp Redwood. She is the main protagonist in American Horror Story: 1984 portrayed by Emma Roberts. Brooke is a short brunette with long straight hair and is a jewelry enthusiast. She is often in formal and cozy outfits.
Brooke is an innocent young woman who appears to have interests in serial killers. Despite her purity, she happens to be fragile and easily peer-pressured into drinking with her fellow counselors. Her encounter with Richard Ramirez left her traumatized and highly cautious regarding any threat. Brooke carries minor knowledge of medicine from her veterinary background and assisted Ray Powell in bandaging his cut.
During the course of the series, after getting incriminated for the crimes committed by Margaret Booth, Brooke started to have a slow change of attitude, being more aggressive and hellbent. Despite that, she refused to give in to the darkness during her confrontation with Richard Ramirez in the prison, who asked her about a deal with Satan. After her execution, and later resurrected by Donna Chambers, Brooke promised that she will seek revenge on Margaret because she "stole" her life after getting framed for the crimes.
Although she was trying to avenge her lost life and stop the carnage in Camp Redwood, Brooke still showed signs of purity, specially with Ray, who knew that she "deserves better in life". At the end of the day, Brooke knew that there will be a better life by leaving the bloodshed in the past.

Linley attended the Ernst Institute and while in school he would meet his future wife Delia. At the time Linley was not involved with Delia and instead formed a relationship with a girl named Alice who attended a different institute.
Linley is an extremely focused individual always striving to improve himself and one day become the greatest. This has proven again and again to be his strongest trait when even as a Highgod he still chooses to meditate and train over spending his time with his friends and family. However, let it be known Linley loves his family and friends above all else. In fact, his love far exceeds his ambition as he was willing to sacrifice his strongest and most powerful Divine Clones for the chance to revive his family
Yang Xiao Long[]

Yang Xiao Long is a former student at Beacon Academy and one of the main protagonists of RWBY. Her weapons of choice are a pair of Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets, Ember Celica.
She made her first appearance in the "Yellow" Trailer, searching for clues regarding the whereabouts of her mother, Raven Branwen, who left her when she was very young. At Beacon, Yang becomes a member of Team RWBY alongside her younger half-sister Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Blake Belladonna.
Yang's voice actress, Barbara Dunkelman, has said that when Yang's character was described to her, she was described as "the kind of person who would teach someone how to swim by pushing them in the water". This speaks volumes about how Yang approaches most things in life. She is very straightforward and confident.
Yang is also described as being a cheerful, energetic and bright young lady. She is arguably the most flippant, carefree and adventurous member of her team, frequently making sarcastic comments and jokes even in the heat of battle and often taking combat and hostile situations lightly. Yang is very sociable and extroverted, even in unfamiliar situations. Yang's love of adventure is the main reason that she decided to become a Huntress. Blake considers Yang the personification of the word "strength". According to Ruby, she snores loudly.[5]
However, Yang's "brawler" fighting style is evocative of her personality. Her anger, one of her main assets in battle, can lead her to act predictably. When her hair is cut during battle, her resulting anger leads her to attack with straight, blunt force. Additionally, a battle against Neopolitan led to frustration on Yang's part, which quickly cost her the battle and almost her life had it not been for the arrival of Raven. Her thoughtless anger led to the quick loss of her right arm in a short encounter with Adam Taurus.
Despite this, Yang is deceptively mature. She is extremely nurturing, particularly toward her younger sister, Ruby. Yang pushes her into being outgoing and also worries a great deal about her sister across the many battles they fight in. This protective and encouraging nature extends to Blake and Weiss as well. Yang is worried about Blake on several occasions, such as when she runs from her team and when she suffers from sleep and appetite problems, opening Yang to discussing her stubborn past. What Yang does not reveal is that she suffers from abandonment issues, blaming herself for her mother not sticking around.
Starfire[]

Starfire, real name Koriand'r, is a superheroine from DC Comics who is most famous as a member of the Teen Titans and was one of the main heroes in the 2003 animated series of the same name.
Koriand'r is a beautiful princess of an alien race known as the Tamarans. After her kingdom was overthrown, Koriand'r escaped to Earth and found herslf among the Teen Titans. Using her ability to absorb knowledge through her lips, Koriand'r kissed Dick Grayson and acquired the ability to speak English.
Starfire is cheerful, sweet, naive, and somewhat insecure, but her naivete is not to be mistaken for stupidity, as she can be extremely intelligent and perceptive at times. It is mentioned on a number of occasions that her powers are fueled by emotions. An alien and an outsider, she is still rather new to Earth and its customs. (For example, she did not understand what a boy meant when he asked if she was "diggin' the scene" when she was at a party, and stated, confused, "I did not know we were supposed to bring shovels.") This leads to much confusion for her and others, such as the awkwardness in casually drinking mustard as a beverage, and thinking cotton candy and cotton balls are the same thing. She takes friendship very seriously, and is easily distressed when others, especially her friends, argue or fight, even if it's over trivial things like video games. Starfire is particularly indignant to the point of snubbing her teammates when she believes they do not care for her friendship or company. In How is Long is Forever?, she explains that she fears arguing will result in her friends drifting apart. In fact, that same episode shows that she is essentially the very person keeping the Titans together, with them having drifted apart in the future precisely because of her absence.
She is arguably the most sociable of the Titans, regularly meditating with Raven, or lifting weights with Cyborg. Above all, she wishes to be friends with everyone she meets, and for everyone to get along. She also insists on sharing her own customs with other members of the team (such as providing a crown of raw meat to be worn on one's birthday), but doesn't generally take offense when they don't understand or refuse her. In one instance, she lies about a holiday celebrated by destroying drapery and blows up a window to explain an accidentally torn curtain; an act that barely registers as odd behavior by the others. Presumably because English is not her first language, Starfire speaks without contractions, and misuses idioms (e.g. "Kick the butt!" as opposed to "Kick butt!" or "The mall of shopping" instead of "shopping mall" as well as "lobstery" instead of "crabby"). Additionally, she uses several Tamaranean nouns, such as "bumgorf" (term of endearment towards one's own child), "K'norfka" (parent or guardian), "clorbag valblernelk" (insulting term apparently meant for referring to those who do especially mean or cruel things), "G'lufnog" (bless you; said after one sneezes), and "shlorvak" (dream).
Starfire has appeared in numerous cartoon television shows and films, including as a member of the Teen Titans in Cartoon Network's eponymous series, voiced by Hynden Walch. Koriand'r makes her live adaptation debut in the DC Universe series Titans, played by Anna Diop.
