Master Sergeant "Sandman", callsign Metal 0-1, is a character from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
He is voiced by William Fichtner.
Sandman is a Master Sergeant in the 1st Special Forces Operational Detatchment-Delta, or Delta Force for short, being the leader of Delta team callsigned "Metal". He is also good friends with Captain John Price, John "Soap" MacTavish, and Simon "Ghost" Riley, as they have operated together during "Operation Kingfish" to capture or kill Vladimir Makarov. The mission ended in failure and Price was captured by Russian forces.
Three years later, Sandman and his team undertook operations during the third World War in New York, Hamburg, Paris, Berlin, and Siberia. He and his team were one of many people that fought to end World War III and stop Makarov. After ensuring the safety of the Russian President and his daughter, Sandman and two of his teammates stayed behind in the collapsing mine to cover Price and Yuri's extraction with the Russian President. It is possible that Sandman and his teammates, Truck and Grinch, were killed in the collapse, making Frost the sole survivor of Team Metal.
