Ruby Gillman is a 15-year-old Kraken teenager and the titular protagonist of the DreamWorks animated film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

Appearance[]
In her normal form, she sports aquamarine skin, contrasting beautifully with her dark blue shoulder-length tentacle hair and vibrant turquoise eyes, Her signature wardrobe typically includes a green turtleneck sweater, purple high waisted jean short shorts, purple, dark grey, and white striped stockings, grey knitted socks, and dark purple boots with purplish blue laces. Her most distinctive physical attribute are her ears, which resemble pectoral fins.
In her giant kraken form, Ruby has 5 tentacles (2 arms and 3 legs) with 4 fingers on each, purple glowing skin and small spots all around her body and longer hair.
Personality[]
Ruby is a quiet, shy and awkward 15-year-old sophomore at Oceanside High School that tries her best to fit in with the other students. In the film's trailer, Ruby can be seen attempting to act as normal as possible, although she does occasionally makes some awkward moments when talking to her beloved crush Connor, who she tutors in Math. She feels occasionally embarrassed by her parents and sees her brother as annoying but overall fine.
She also typically hangs out with her group friends, the group usually enlists Margot, Trevin, and Bliss.
She is also well-drawn to the ocean, a place where she feels like she belongs, but she is a confrontation-avoider as she chooses to obey her mother's number-one rule of staying away from the ocean.
Kraken Abilities[]
- Body Armor: Ruby possesses a protective body armor that offers enhanced defense. The armor can be summoned by Ruby at any time to protect herself from any physical harm. The armor itself seems to likely possess tough rock-like properties.
- Camouflage: Ruby inherits the ability to achieve a full invisibility-like camouflage. This ability allows her to blend seamlessly into her surroundings.
- Laser Eyes: Ruby possesses the ability to emit powerful laser beams from her eyes. These laser beams are formidable weapons in combat, capable of inflicting significant damage upon her adversaries.
- Super Speed: Ruby is able to move at incredible speed, capable of moving at superhuman velocities. In the movie trailers, she showcases her speed underwater, showcasing her agility and swiftness.
- Boneless Structure: More prominent in her normal form, Ruby does not possess any bones but her body is able to stretch, be squished, and bend in any way a human can't possibly do.
- Prehensile hair: Ruby's unique attribute is her prehensile hair, which acts like additional limbs. She can manipulate her tentacle-like hair to grasp objects or engage in combat. [1]

Marcy and her friends meet up with The Gillman girl during their travels respectively as they deal with the horror creatures which is the Kraken, Despite being one herself, she helps them deal with it as it gives her species a bad name
Ruby assists Lincoln and Lydia's group to get to Spooky's Island and stops Spooky's forces from getting the drop on them
Upon returning to Marcy's crew, she finds out what happened to them through the Grundle and goes with Ford and Sid to get The Collector, shielding them as a result Returning back to the others, Ruby goes to get Slade and the others and heads to The Flying Dutchman's Graveyard to learn and get their counter attack to Freakshow
Gillman then goes back to the normal team and continues to help in dealing with the ghosts and brings them to the others as Marcy and Slade know something needs to be done. With the final battle in Big City, Ruby takes on the Rogue Kraken once and for all taking it out

Prologue[]
Ruby Gillman was first seen joining Angus, Lincoln, Lydia and Pippi in heading to P.E.I to work on a personal family project with Lydia. She, Pippi and Lincoln decided to get her a suprise after recalling Lydia's fondness for the shark and how Larke managed to punch one and wanting to show she can do something similar. After Lincoln comforts her about her family revealations, she and Pippi present her with the shark humanoid creature they found.
Ruby is next seeing Hilda and her family that Pippi is ready to take them to Royal Woods, Hilda does lighten a little from her grim stake to see a kraken like this askiing about this to Pippi. Ruby joined Lincoln, Lydia and Pippi in going back to Villa Villekulla to have a fun time to cheer Lydia up about the lineage of her own family respectfully enjoying the sights of it.
Pippi and Ruby were hanging in Royal Woods at the time where the two ends eavesdropping on the plans of N.Tropy's allies. She tries to get Ruby to warn the others about what Chandler and his allies are up to respectively which she goes to do. Ruby arrives to warn Clyde, Frida and David but finds out she's too late and explains it was a trap set by Chandler and his friends. She explains what she did find out and infroms Pippi Long Stocking of this and decides to stick around to help Hilda and the others.
Chapter 1[]
Ruby joined Pippi in getting Lincoln's grandparents as well as Dawn. As the two traveled she found out from her grandmother to keep an eye because Chelesa is once again around respectively as they have noticed her and she had a hand in the disappearance of her friends.
Ruby with her friends get back and she tells Hilda about what her grandmother told her about Chelesa and her being a part of it. Hilda is unsure if she could be behind this as while she takes what Ruby said at face value, she has dealt with more cunning foes than a mermaid.
Ruby and the others all work to try and figure out what happened to Lincoln and Lydia. When Dawn gives her theory to them, Ruby is the only one who doesn't take sides with Dawn or Hilda. Ruby does at least admit that weirder things have happened and that she knows little of paranormal activity when asked by the others about what she thinks.
Part 2[]
In Lydia's flashback Ruby is seen in Pippi's house with Lydia, Angus and Pippi as they discussing what Lydia learned and Ruby overhears her issues in this regard. Ruby relates to this as she had to deal with this secret of her own in regards to her family being krakens and they had to hide this and pretend they're from Canada.
Ruby Joins up with David and Dawn and encounters Chelesa who reveals her hand in helping Chandler. Ruby fights off Chelesa with Dawn to prevent her from going any further with this and tries to stop Chelsea from controlling David. While she escapes, Ruby managed to keep Chelesa restrained enough to only cause water damage
Part 3[]
Ruby, Dawn and Anders are are on a stake out trying to keep their eyes on Chelsea and Chandler who have been in contact with Francis and they learn respectfully that the group is on and that it was more helpful to harness the energy that came from that pokemon. Anders and Ruby do seem confused about what they meant. Dawn though has an good idea and explains about the Eterna Forest having a poltergeist posessive like Pokemon in the Old Chateau. She thinks a good idea would to go there and Catch Rotom or study it.
Anders agrees, he has no idea what a pokemon but thinks she has an good idea. Ruby decides on swimming to the Sinnoh Region, Dawn just states that they could just use a ship, Anders asks if Dawn knows one and Dawn does show him a phampet.
Chapter 2[]
Ruby is mentioned by Lydia in regards to her family situations to Johanna. She like Pippi, Lincoln and Angus knew a bit about it as they went on her family trip. Ruby found Lydia's topic a senstive issue due to her own former issues with her own family.
Working with Pippi, Pop-Pop and Myrtle, they manage to find Chandler and Chelesa who were discussing how they managed to use the Fairy sickness biowfare move to their advantage to weaken Jaune Arc to insure they can claim an upper hand against the other heroes. Ruby is curious about why Spot would do that against Jaune who he has no personal beef, Pop Pop and Myrtle believe another power could be helping and return with the info in time to deal with Mr.Crocker making a move on Hilda and the others while trying to help Jaune Arc.
Part 2[]
Ruby notes that David is going somewhere on Pippi's ship and finds out where he is going. David tells Ruby what he's doing and Ruby decides she is going to join him to make sure he doesn't do anything dumb. As Hilda wouldn't allow this.
Part 3[]
Ruby and David arrive in Trolberg and they head to over the libraby where they find Kalsa as well as Tildy. David tells them about the situation that is occuring respectfully and Ruby asks what can they can do
Ruby and David are informed they need to do what's best for themselves and that they need to keep looking into the case of the fairies respectfully.
Ruby asks David what to do next, and David decides to take her to Hilda's apartment so they can wait for her
Chapter 3[]
Ruby and David spent their time tending to HIlda's pets as they waited for the others to get there which they do and are delighted to see them and tell them what they did do. Ruby reunites with the Spenglers who have been brought into to help deal with the poltergeist. She convinces Hilda to hear them out when Hilda tells Ruby that it won't be needed as they need to figure out why.
Ruby keeps her eyes focused admittingly and this is when the villains attack Hilda and Ruby on account of Crocker and Spot;s plan. When they ambushed by the creatures used. Ruby engages against The Hyde Monster respectfully and uses her Kraken Powers to fend down Tyler while helping Hobie to save Frida and David from the spider frog with lasers to harm it's toungue. Using her armor abilties she sheilds the others as they all head off respectively. As some of the villains are determined to do something
Ruby tries to calm Hilda down upon learning the truth of her fairy lineages as she herself had her own kraken lineage hidden from her too and tells her not to have a panic attack. Ruby watches Hilda run off from them and respsects she needs personal space from all this. Ruby does look sad as she watches Hilda run off.
Part 2[]
Ruby with Pippi and Hobie try to find where Hilda went, they call for her name so she can talk to her family about everything. They do this believe they have gave her considerable time to cool off. She is ambushed by Tyler who tries to take her, Pippi and Hovie and learn he tailed Hilda so they take him on to beat the info out of him.
Though the three do get away fine, The Mari then chase them respectfully and they end up running back to the others in Trolberg where the gang try to stop the Detonator from going. Chelesa however arrives to keep them distracted and fights with them in order to insure they're stalled.
Ruby and Pippi see Hilda and try to talk to her, but they end up getting pulled as the detonator goes off. Now being in the nowhere space, They are told that they need to stay there into the blast zone is safe.
Chapter 4[]
Ruby is informed by the others about Lincoln and Lydia being alive which reliefs her respectfully. She is glad to see Hilda fine and while her suction cups do stick to HIlda she apologizes to her. Ruby and Hilda both decide to approach Johanna, Anders and Astrid and she helps Hilda make amends with them
Learning of Chelesa and Chandler's own plans through Lincoln's grandparents, she decides to join the others in heading to Lydia's universe.
Part 2[]
Ruby joins her friends in heading to Flying Rhino Junior High to find Mulder and Scully's contact Walter Skinner
She learns of everything that happened to Hilda and helps her deal with Hilda's own issues that she resolves with her own parents with Jaune Arc respectfully
With the reality warping computers considered, Ruby joins Johanna, Jaune Arc and Hilda in investigating and she proves instrumental when Neil Kandy and Sampson manage to hijack the machines to act up and she once again has to fight Chelsea again who is part of the group that has the school attacked. Ruby manages to deal with Chelsea with help from her friends even as the mermaid tries to stop her from fighting her when it comes to what Spot really has in mind As Ruby is not falling for her tricks again
Ruby and the team take out Spot's associates and return to the boiler room and learn of how Hilda's grandparents have been found in part to the Time Agents respectfully
Chapter 5[]
Ruby Gillman is with Anders respectfully as she is curious about Hilda's family and all that and she is shown Johanna's wedding dress and Ruby finds out Anders kept the dress since their warning and that Johanna thought she lost it, but Anders managed to find it and wanted to show it to her when he came back. Ruby tells Anders to just admit Jaune is the better man and not try to win her back.
Ruby and her friends all end up ambushed by Kregg and the rest of Spot's forces respectfully who are to get them once and for all under N.Tropy's orders
Ruby fights them off with her own powers and finds herself helped by Hilda and her forces. She finds Chelesea who is fighting for them and she is reminded that the mermaid was telling the truth this time
Ruby and Chelesa fight together to deal with Spot's forces and they are able to repel the rest of his forces right in time for The Spot to arrive outside the school
Chapter 6[]
Ruby, Chelesea and the others all watch as The False Groudon emerges and watch in horror as Dawn and Clyde's attempt at a congtincecy backfires. Ruby trusts Chelesea to try use the trident, but finds it doesn't really work either to their shock. Chelesa saves Ruby from getting sucked into the tentacles of False Groudon which suprsies her
Ruby tries to use the armor to try and keep False Groudon, she gets sucked but it allows the others to get to the lab. Ruby is freed afterwards and she decides to end the kraken and mermaid wars as does Chelesa.
Epilogue[]
Ruby and Pippi accompany Hilda's Family to the cabin and help out with the decoratiing and placing all the stuff together, Ruby wishes she could come but she has her own stuff to do.
She does ask Pippi and Hilda to take photos respectfully, though. Ruby then also learns who is holding each role. Lincoln was made the best man, Lydia was the maid, Hilda is the ring bearer, The Robot is the officant and hand others roles to others. though Ruby wonders why Mulder and Scully weren't made the roles of best man and maid of honor. Jaune and Johanna tell her that it's because they helped make it possible.
Ruby heads off afterwards asking to get some of the food as well when it's all done

Nate, Erica, Lincoln, Will, Lydia and Dee Dee all take a curious loo and notice a kraken but also a mermaid which is point to the others and when The Robot takes a closer look it is analyzed to be Ruby and Chelesa.
Lincoln, Lydia, Will, Nate and Erica all holler to them and Ruby is glad to see the others again asking how was the wedding for Jaune and Johanna. Lydia comments it was something most unsual and not to forget for them as she, Lincoln and Will remember the events of the wedding of seeing Death, The frying pan incident and apparently other mishaps that occured around the time and after wards. Nate gets Amy, Dustin, Clyde, David and Rave to see this for themselves as Truman, Larke, Troy, Bruce and Selina are a bit confused at all this. Lincoln introduces them to Ruby Gillman someone they met during the Freak Show events and that this is Chelesa the mermaid that they once fought but now are something of friends.
Ruby takes in charge of the kids and brings them to Jellyfish Fields and Sand Mountain to catch jellyfish and to go sand boarding she advises them not to kill or overmilk the jellyfish they catch. Lincoln, Lydia, Will, Truman, Clyde, David, Dustin, Erica, Nate, Dee Dee and Rave all agree and go to catch some jellyfish treating like capturing butterfiles. Lydia intitally wants to roller skate again but Lincoln does stop her saying this is grass areas and not pavement. Dustin, Clyde and Truman actively join them with Truman having made contraptions to trap them and get a little jelly.

Ruby is ambushed by the jelly mooks of Kassandra where she helps take them on with her strength and laser vision. She uses caution when doing so no one gets hurt by her fight with them as she isn't willing to hurt innocent people. She joins up with the rest later, to go into Dabble's Mansion so she can help Rave get the next power gem which Ruby really helps out with due to her knowledge on math which is used.
After acquiring the power gem from the manison, she insists on staying in BIkini Bottom so she can do what she can to protect the sea from any future attack.
Chapter 3[]
Part 9[]
Ruby returns as well as Chelesa to help Lincoln, Lydia and their friends deal with Neuman and Tek Knight. She tries to help them out though Professor Membrane and the others tell her to just keep an eye on things as Tek and Neuman will suspect something if a kraken enters. This turns out to be a good call as Troy goes nuclear and she uses her battle armor to protect her friends from the fallout of the explosion of the Compound V. Ruby hangs in Camp Mastadon when Lydia, Lincoln and their group joined by Bender, Anti Cosmo and Hughie discuss matters about the aftermath.
Ruby decides she may have to go down to Mexico to help and deal with the threat Tom warned them about and Pippi Longstocking might be how she can achieve this.
Chapter 5[]
She arrives to find Pippi Longstocking and the two go to find Ford and the others and help deal with Judge Holden as well as recieving the help of Lincoln and Lydia as well. Ucmmu though does return despite their effort and Ruby is prepared to battle against him.
Chapter 6[]
Being a Kraken, Ruby is able to use her powers to fight off Ucumuu very handily and is able to hold him back for the rest of Team Free Will and The Streaming Resistance to defeat him and put him in the ground. She also confesses to Ford and the others that she did know about The Streaming Resistance and tries to get him to go a bit easier on Lydia to some extent.
Book 2: Interlude[]
Ruby Gillman joins up with Ford and his crew to deal with N.TRopy and his forces after their latest attack at the hands of Sam and other forces all this even after celebrating the 12th birthday of her friend Lydia. She also has Bender and Deathstroke on their side as well and learns what happened with them. With The heroes discovering what is going on, Ruby joins up with Team Free Will when it comes to their mission to gather the gems and crystals for the Crash Universe to deal with N.Tropy and her kraken abilities come in handy dealing with N.Tropy's own forces.
She later joins up with dealing with Morando and is able to help deal with the alien and helps the Streaming Resistance kill him off before learning of Ford's death alongside the others and N.Tropy's own personal vendettas against Lincoln and Lydia.
Book 3: Culmination[]
Ruby finds Ford's corpse and respectfully buries it with Sid and Luz as the rest of the heroes sort their own affairs up. Ruby prepares to fight off N.Tropy and his forces, but she decides to go after saving Mulder and Scully instead as that would be what Lydia would want first. Ruby then assists the rest of the team in pursuing this mission when Chelesa decides to keep her eye on the kids for her in case anything goes wrong.
