Ram Shankar Nikumbh is one of the main characters in Taare Zameen Par. Gupte, who based the character on his art teacher Ramdas Sampat Nikumbh, initially asked Akshaye Khanna to play the role.

He Was Ishaan's art teacher, previously, Ishaan had dificulties and even ill treated, then he came as a substitute art teacher at NEHS, when he first teached at Ishaan's class, he realised that Ishaan had dyselexia, causing the difficulties of Ishaan, he later visited Ishaan's parents and told that Ishaan is smart in other ways, later he proposed an art contest, at the art contest, Ishaan wins and he succesfully makes Ishaan gets respect from everyone.
