"And 20 years later... every country of the world has their own private army of Magicians capable of controlling every form of power... however, one country had a better idea in using its Magicians. Japan, while keeping their own private army of Magicians, were the first people to found their own Magic Academy called... Raizen School to train the new generation of Magicians to use it as a form of increase their economy with international events of Magi-Tech."
— CIS Narrator on Raizen

Raizen Academy, also known as Raizen School, Raizen Academy, Raizen City and Magi-Tech Raizen Academy City, is a landlocked sovereign city-school-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the Tenguu City Metropolitan Employment Area. It serves as the Reboot school of the original Raizen High School that appeared in LOTM: Sword of Kings AA - Raizen School Arc.

It is the primary setting of the LOTM: Sword of Kings Saga AA, the first Saga of LOTM: Sword of Kings story from CIS Productions and its side stories but it later becomes one of the foremost mentioned places of the story once the settings began to chance in Prime Earth to Fraxinus and different other countries. As the academy name suggests, it is a city of several Magi-Tech schools and institutions of higher learning from kindergarten to university level that learn side-by-side along with the scientists who research on magic powers and higher technology, the latter being one of the primary reasons for its establishment.

By 2036, it is the most advanced city (even more so than Tenguu City itself) in the world and its technology is said to be 50 years ahead of the world, bringing the attention of the globe to the academy that is considered to be the most prestigious Magi-Tech academy of all 9 Magi-Tech Academies of Japan. Raizen is composed of 50 districts, called Magic Districts which are simply numbered from one to fifty and each of these districts have a specific purpose. In the story, there are only a handful of residents who know about true genuine magic, either due to encountering it or being part of the Magic themselves, such as La Folia RihaveinAsuha ChigusaLucy Sheev KnightWalker, Isis Maxwell and Gravik Millian.

Riazen is an upper-level, magic institution known to send over a hundred graduates who either enter the American and Chronos Empire University of Magic or enroll in a Magic Technical Institute of Specialized Higher Training of Global Pact Defense every year and an elite school that churns out the largest number of excellent Magicians and Magic Technicians.

Although the academy was founded primarily with good purposes to combat the natural devastation of the world and other dictatorships rising in Europe, Middle East and Asia to prevent a new World War, the academy is corrupted inside with cruel and corrupt students who are known mostly for being bullies, racists against non-Japanese students and supremacists whom use their powers to abuse Regular (non-Magicians) people.

Curriculum[]

Raizen's Central of Police, one of the many fields Magician can study to

Raizen also boasts the most difficult entrance examination among the Nine Magic Schools. In this school where only elites are accepted, right at the start of enrollment, the students are already divided into high achievers and low achievers. Raizen currently accepts 200 to 1000 new students per year.

Both Course 1 and 2 will have 300 students each and there are 4 classes of Course 1 students and 4 classes of Course 2 students. Since April 2026, for 2nd & 3rd Year students, First High has 4 classes of Course 1, 3 classes of Course 2 and 1 class of Magic Engineering (since the new academic year which started in April 2026).

Magic education is a trial-and-error thing and accidents, which go beyond the level of minor mishaps, can easily happen directly through magic slip-ups from practice training and experiments. Students sometimes lose the ability to use magic after such accidents. Such vacant places are filled up by Course 2 Students as replacements. Although accidents resulting in deaths or handicapped bodies have been eradicated due to an accumulation of know-how, the number of students who drop out being unable to use magic is not small.

Final exams for magic high schools include theory and practical skills examinations in magical subjects. Language, arts, math, science, sociology and other mundane topics are graded based on daily homework. As it is an institution that focuses on high-quality training for Magicians, so from the school's perspective, having the students focus too much on subjects outside of magic is redundant.

Course 1[]

Asuha and Magilou in their different unifroms (from Course 2 to Course 1; from left to right)

Course 1 students, referred to unofficially as 'Prestigious Apples' at Raizen, are the students who topped the entrance exam for the Magic School, primarily scoring higher in practical skills which are considered more important than theory and carry heavier weighting in the exam scores.

Course 2[]

Course 2 students, mockingly referred to as 'Rotten Apples' at Raizen, are people who succeeded to enter the Magic High School, but were lacking in practical skills compared to their Course 1 counterparts. Due to the lack of teachers, they are forced to learn with the use of computer lessons rather than an educator.

Due to the second courses incorporation into the school been rushed the school was unable to get the school emblem embroidered on the extra uniforms in time which caused the two courses to unintentionally have distinctly different uniforms and were subsequently left different in following years.

Magi-Tech Engineering Department[]

Magi-Tech Engineering Class places emphasis on magic engineering in the curriculum compared to the original magic study classes. Currently, there is only one Magi-Tech Engineering Class.

The new Year 2 Students have the option to choose between the original Magi-Tech Study or Magi-Tech Engineering Classes. Students who choose to continue with original Magi-Tech Study will still be divided into 4 classes of Course 1 Students and 3 Classes of Course 2 Students. On the other hand, students who choose Magi-Tech Engineering Course will have to pass an examination in March before joining the newly established class.

Basic Course[]

Located in the "Magi-Tech Base Department", it is an unique and fundamental course where all beginner Magicians begin learning the basics of Magi-Tech, or better, the theoretical phase of Magi-Tech that begins before the true practice. Not much is known about this course besides the basic information that they rely more in theoretical and books, computers and Internet studies.

Student Council[]

Student council logo

Raizen places heavy emphasis on self-determination, thus, the Student Council as been granted vast powers within the confines of the school. It is stated that most of the other schools in Japan have also adopted a similar doctrine. After the invasion of Mafusa Sovereignty to East-Tenguu City in 2028, self-determination has become the theme of society, and so the old centrism that led to the diplomatic disadvantages and internal unrest before have been swept out.

Student Council members must be selected from among the Course 1 students. To change this requires a special amendment meeting with the attendance of the full student body and a cloture carried by a two-thirds majority. The Student Council of Raizen has an annual tradition, which is to invite the 1st Year Representative of the incoming class to the Student Council, with the intent of training them to become a potential successor.

The Student Council also selects a candidate to be placed on the Public Morals Committee.

Public Morals Committee[]

The Public Morals Committee is a High School organization that is responsible for policing those who break school rules. Overall, the job of the Public Morals Committee is to uphold the public moral on campus.

Public Morals Committee HQ

The primary duties of the Public Morals Committee is to identify and stop individuals who use magic in violation of school rules. After the Public Morals Committee member decides the necessary punishment, he or she will be presented before the heads of the three school organizations. In short, they are both the police of the Magicians and the prosecutor.

The Public Morals Committee member's mission is to halt any conflicts, magic or non-magic related, upon discovery. If magic was used in a conflict, intervention by the committee is mandatory. This task clearly requires overwhelming magical prowess to subjugate the opponent.

Their base of operations is the Public Morals Committee headquarters located directly underneath the Student Council Room. Their primary objective is patrolling school grounds in search of any rule breakers or conflicts. The committee and its responsibilities are heavily reliant on ability, each member holds a high level of combat prowess, which is necessary in subjugating students that break school rules. Their level of activity always increases greatly during the Recruitment Week at the beginning of every school year.

The Chair of the committee has the power to recognize a formal match between two students as a legitimate extracurricular activity by the abidance of school rules, of course, in a Duo Battle that always result in the death of one of the students. This is a measure to prevent the match from becoming a brawling incident — an act of violence forbidden by the school rules. This also encourages students to settle disagreements that can't be settled by words alone with force.

Guild Management Circle[]

Guild buildings in Raizen

The Guild Management Group is one of the three most important organizations in the Magi-Tech Schools alongside the Student Council and the Public Morals Committee.

The Guild Management Committee is responsible for assigning the location and necessary equipment during the "New Student Club Recruitment Week". They along with the Public Morals Committee are required to handle conflicts between guilds of Magicians in Raizen. The Guild Management Committee supports the Student Council in selection of athletes for the "Nine Schools Competition".

Raizen Government's Central

As the director of Raizen, Lucy Sheev KnightWalker is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the chief of all organizations in charge of the academy city and holds absolute power of the city, however, she usually doesn't concern herself with government affairs and delegates them to the 10 members of the Student Council, which each one have a power over a specific part of the town.

According to Lucy, the members of the board of Student Council are expendable and can be replaced any time with other powerful Magicians in the academy. The government has absolute power regarding policies, as adults have no say regarding policies being implemented. There is no suffrage since the majority population are minors.

The Raizen's government building, also known as the Raizen Tower, Convocation Center, or Raizen Senate, was the building on Raizen in the center of the Raizen's Main District which served as the seat of the Raizen Government from 2020 until the end of beginning of the Third World War in 2036. The designers claimed that any weapon capable of destroying the tower would also have to be powerful enough to destroy the city planet, making the facility invulnerable against sabotage or orbital bombardment.

Raizen also has a constitution with more than 30,000 Articles extending from Executive, Legislative and Judiciary.

Geography[]

9b0

Raizen was a city known for never sleeping like much New York, Tokyo and the rest of Tenguu City

Just like the rest of Tenguu City, tue entire surface of Raizen was covered by sprawling kilometers-high super-metropolis, and boasted a population of over a 15 million to 25 million people, being the second most populated city in the world after Tenguu City, with Chongqing, China being the third most populated. Following the end of the Second Cold War in Tokyo 2032 A.D., an official census noted 20 million official permanent residents, about 1/5 of Tenguu City's overall population. The statistics did not include transients, temporary workers, unregistered populace, nor residents of orbital facilities.

Raizen was known to have the tallest buildings in the world. Raizen skyscrapers dwarfed all the original natural features, including mountains, as well as floors of oceans which once covered a large portion of Tenguu City's surface. Areas of Galactic City were broken up into 5,127 levels which were then divided into megablocks, blocks, and subblocks. Tenguu City itself was divided into quadrants, which were divided into zones. Below the skyscrapers was Tenguu City's undercity, where sunlight never reached. Artificial lighting illuminated these lower levels and advertisement holograms could be seen everywhere, a common underground city that existed in all Tenguu City and connected the undergrounds to other parts of Tenguu City. There were numerous establishments for entertainment, catering to a myriad of foreign people.

Raizen's touristic points

Raizen is apparently located in a region where there is a constant wind that flows within the city, allowing its wind turbines to generate power in an attempt to reduce the global warming. Climate in Raizen City is probably the same in Tokyo and other surrounding areas, though through its technological advances they are able to predict the weather much more accurately and can actually give schedules on when the weather might change.

Raizen is roughly 1/3 the size of Tenguu City and 2/3 of Tokyo in comparison.

Education[]

As the name implies, Raizen City boasts the largest collection of primary, secondary, tertiary educational facilities in a single city. It can aptly be described as a City of Magi-Tech Schools. Like most Japanese schools, Raizen City follows a similar setup, with lessons on English, history (involving only from the First Spacequake to the current era), Magic maths, etc. However, some schools such as Sendai School may have somewhat different setup than regular schools. Similarly, the city follows a similar academic term to that outside of the city. With summer break beginning on the 20th of July up until the 1st of September.

Additionally, the city boasts their own sports and cultural festivals similar to the outside. Unique to Raizen City is the Power Curriculum Program, a program which through the use of drugs, training and tests allow students to gain Magic-Tech powers. It begins at 5-years-old at the earliest, and adults are unable to take part, though it is said the age limit is 15-years old.

Technology[]

Hangar of a spatial station built above Raizen and Tenguu City

One of the defining aspects of Raizen is its advanced technology and scientific knowledge, with the city said to be 50 years ahead of the rest of the world. Riazen City is referred to as the town of the future and has several experiments occur within the city established by numerous universities and research laboratories. These experiments range from vending machines, construction of skycrapers, spatial technology, to Security robots, to scientifically grown animals and plants.

One of the things that makes Raizen special technologically wise is their ability to make ground breaking technology that completely sweeps away "all mystical darkness" with the power of science, in other words, they create machines possessing specs that were completely thought of as impossible before and thus are basically a "myth buster", this specialty of Raizen is known with the term known as Hard Science. Raizen City mainly uses this as a serial number to their most advanced machinery regardless of "what it is for", which translate in equipment having an Hs within it's serial, such as the HsSiV-01 "car", powered suit or the HsAFH-10, attack helicopter, or the HsF-00 supersonic fighter.

It should be noted that most of the technology produced by the "Hard Science" has been put into practice for the sake of creating new weapons.

Raizen City is among the increasing number of countries and organizations with a space program and is deeply involved in the Colonization of Mars Project.

Security helicopters of Raizen, said to be most advanced ones of the world

Raizen City's technology is fifty years ahead of its time and thus, has accessibility to a more sophisticated array of measures to ensure security across the city. The city limits leading outside are lined with walls, accessible only through entry points which require persons to have permission to enter or leave the premises. For vehicles, infrared seekers and MRI scanners a used to check vehicles.

Inside the city, hidden cameras are dotted along many roads and alleyways. Not only that Lucy Sheev KnightWalker uses small minuscule machines known as the UNDER_LINE to gather data around the entire city to spy on Katarina Tirial Couteau's activities. The image of safety and trustworthiness is the forefront of Raizen City's concerns, but information was strictly monitored and controlled below the surface. Many systems were laid out throughout the city in the name of preventing the approach of any terrorists or spies, be they industrial or working for a nation’s government. In addition to the ground-level security protocols in Raizen City, the satellite NVSS-1 (where the Tree Diagram supercomputer is located) and VSI-II (a camera satellite and also a satellite laser-cannon built from Hand of Apocalypse's design) gathers detailed pictures of the area and relays it back to Earth.

Human Factor[]

People who want to register to be a denizen of the city, requires information regarding their fingerprints, voiceprints, and retinal patterns. Furthermore, a denizen of the city requires a pass if they wish to leave the city, these are countermeasures against the abduction of the students, by industrial spies and agents. To leave, a student must first write and turn in three written applications, after signing all of them, their blood has to be checked for authenticity of identity using a micro machine, and lastly, students need to have a guarantor to obtain a complete pass, such as parents or guardians. Students going out are later injected with a nanodevice that is a transmitter before allowed out of the city using a mosquito needle. People who want to simply enter the City require a permit.

Police and Military[]

Central of the RSPD in Raizen

The primary peacekeeping forces in Raizen City are not only the Public Committe but the RSPD (Raizen Strategic Police Department) ; these two groups are composed of trained students and faculty respectively which deal with crimes and conflicts with security but also employ thousands of normal police officers, robots of combat and highly trained mercenaries like the Merryweather Security (MS). They are authorized to retrieve Information from surveillance equipment within Raizen City, to check if there are any crimes occurring, in addition to their constant patrol duties. Raizen City also has a fire department as well as emergency response organization, as well countless police departments, military outposts and MS bases to patrol the Great Walls of Tenguu City.

The RSPD worked closely with the MS but maintained ultimate control of policing the city. This included regular patrols of the various districts and neighborhoods of Raizen, criminal investigations, counter-terror, counter-espionage operations, crowd control at major events, and public disturbances, maintaining the city's skylanes, handing out speeding tickets, diplomatic protection, and responding to a variety of other emergencies and situations.

Security Codes[]

Network Terminal Security Rank[]

Furthermore, the network terminals of Raizrn City are ranked, to which only a device or a person with at least the same rank as the terminal can access information therein. These networks are connected to each other. For example, a Rank D terminal cannot access Rank C information.

  • Rank D - Cellphones
  • Rank C - Library and homes
  • Rank B - Teachers
  • Rank A - Research Laboratories
  • Rank S - Student Council and General Board of Directors

Automatic Alert System[]

Raizen has an automatic alert system that triggers colored codes depending on the situation.

  • Code Red - Academy City's highest alert status, which indicates that a terrorist have been confirmed to have invaded Raizen City. Here, the city blocks traffic flow between the inside and the outside, as well as traffic between the districts are restricted. Checkpoints are also set up on the roads, and Judgment members can request leave to help locate the terrorist and help crowd control and evacuate civilians while the security forces handle the situation.
  • Code Orange - Academy City's second highest alert status, indicating the potential of an incoming terrorist threat on the city. All traffic between the inside and outside of the city is blocked.
  • Code Yellow - Unknown, but the city was under Code Yellow after the invasion of Vento of the Front. Presumably, the code is up when the city is under the presumption that attacks can still be possible

Trivia[]

  • From all settings in CIS Productions, none other than Raizen Academy itself suffered most alterations in the Reboot version. While Raizen was nothing more than a simply high school in Tenguu City, the Reboot version of 2020 transformed the school in an super-metropolitan town with millions of denizes and are specialist in the studies and research of Magi-Tech. In the 2020 Reboot version, Raizen has even more significant and important role in the overall story of LOTM: Sword of Kings.
