Death Guards. Leaded by their primarch Mortarion. They are space marines who wanted to escape death from dying a slow and painful death from a virus infection. By accepting his deal Nurgle saved them from death at the cost of remaining as a diseased body of decay. They exist to spread Nurgles diseases to the galaxy that will cause organic life to rot and inorganic life to rust. They are running zombies one difference is that they retain their human intelligence and reasoning. They cannot feel pain like any other zombie and worse they have a healing factor. The disease that brings rotting plagues is spreaded by their puss dripping swords.

The children of Nurgle both daemons and mortal alike gather around together like a happy family to bring the plague father Nurgles joy to the universe. Nurgle loves everyone and would love it if you accept his gift of being diseased by his plagues and become a decayed zombie forever. If anyone refuses they are left dying a very slow and painful death to rot from the plagues as mortals until they come begging for Nurgle to save them. If they continue for too long they become mindless zombies for not pledging their services to Nurgle.
The Death Guard had given in to such temptations as does the primarch who leads them Mortarion since they were left to die with no one else to help them but Nurgle. The Death Guard have become the chaos space marines of spreading Nurgles plagues to others.
