Marill

Marill is a mouse Pokémon from the Johto region. It was one of a few Pokémon from Generation II to make an appearance before the debut of the Johto Journeys, the first Pokémon series to introduce new Pokémon that aren't part of the first 150 roster (151 if you count Mew).

It was not known that Marill was evolved until the next generation when it was discovered that it is the evolved form of Azurill, a Normal/Fairy type that was once a pure Normal type.

Marill was once identified as a pure Water type Pokémon until Generation VI when its type was changed into a dual Water/Fairy type.

This Pokémon uses its round tail as a float. The ball of Marill’s tail is filled with nutrients that have been turned into an oil. Even after Marill swims in a cold sea, its water- repellent fur dries almost as soon as Marill leaves the water. That’s why this Pokémon is never cold.

Marill can evolve into Azumarill.

Its name may be a combination of 丸い marui, which means round or circular, or 鞠 mari, which means ball, 瑠璃 ruri, which is a lapis lazuli, and possibly rill, which is a small river or brook. It may also come from マリンブルー marine blue, an old name for navy blue.

In the first Kira's Journey though Galar, Kira goes looking for Water Pokémon and various others, but though a string of good luck or bad luck, somehow ends up catching 25 Marill's.
