LisettePortraitFullPM

Lisette is a young woman who acts aggressively towards Goldia, showing no interest in helping her and instead actively seeking her death. She is also the fourth character to be introduced.

Lisette was blamed whenever misfortunes occurred, despite not being at fault for most things, and was framed for many of Fleta's lies. This pitiable upbringing birthed Lisette's belief that she was evil, and needed to "purify" herself.

During the course of the game, it's revealed that Lisette is just a "facet" of Goldia's memories, representing her mental illness and violence, and the rage, confusion, and frustration she experienced as a result of domestic violence and mental pressure. It's written in a note in Harpae's library that Lisette was having 'nervous outbursts' during her tutoring sessions (this was not represented as Lisette, but as Goldia with Lisette as the personality-in-charge at the time). She tore pages out of books, scribbled over her own notes, and threw tantrums. She also did things such as ripping her own hair out during lectures and attempting to harm herself with the quill. It seems as though she attempted to harm her tutor as well, resulting in their resignation.

Appearance[]

Lisette has long, unkempt blonde hair, parted sloppily in the middle, and violet eyes. She wears a button-up white shirt with a high, ruffled black collar and cuffs, with a purple brooch pinned to the collar. Lisette also wears a brown buckled corset, and her skirt has black fabric sewn into the waistband. She wears dark purple tights and black ballet-slipper shoes laced up to her mid calf. Her skin is very pale, and she wears a flowered ribbon on the left side of her head. She is always seen holding a pair of scissors in each hand.

Lisette's face is often shrouded in shadow, which hides one or both of her eyes from view. As with the other characters, her eyes glow red when angry. In her good ending her face is visible, and the dark circles beneath her eyes make it appear as though she is sleep-deprived or has been crying.

In GoldenerTraum, Lisette receives a small redesign. Her blonde hair is fuller, albeit still unkept, and part of her hair is tied up with a flowered, lace ribbon. Her collar is a dark purple and more ruffled, and the purple brooch is replaced by a lavender rose. Her shirt is no longer a button up, and the cuffs of her sleeves have been replaced by dark purple belts with gold buckles. Her sleeves ruffle out at the ends. The fabric sewn into her waistband has been changed to the same dark purple as her collar, as has numerous belts attached to it. Two of the belts are buckled together, while two are left undone. Lisette retains her ballet-slippers shoes, with an addition of a lavender rose on the top of each shoe.

Instead of holding a pair of scissors in each hand, Lisette instead holds solely a gold pair in her left. A red ribbon is seen tied to the scissors in the shape of a bow.

Personality[]

Lisette appears to be very bitter and hurt, and is antagonistic towards Goldia due to the latter's treatment of her. She often speaks in a childish manner and displays signs of instability, and frequently attempts to kill, maim, or frighten Goldia. She seems to retain a pessimistic worldview, most likely due to her past, during which she was blamed for the wrongdoings of others and rejected by society as a whole.

It's stated in her character profile that Lisette rids herself of her impure feelings by casting them into mirrors, thus explaining why there are so many Lisettes around in the Mirror Maze and in her whole area. The "real" Lisette is shown to have a much more thoughtful and calm personality. Her facial expressions can seem almost stoic, and she mostly communicates through a series of short sentences that are usually no longer than 6 or 7 words.

Relationships[]

Goldia die Heilige[]

Lisette and Goldia have quite a complex relationship. Lisette wishes vengeance on Goldia and is obviously trying to hurt her. Her brutal honesty and harsh words often leave Goldia in shock, yet Goldia still tries her very best to help and understand her. It's revealed that Goldia actually used Lisette as a sort of scapegoat in the past for her obnoxious behavior that was caused by her mental illness, explaining Lisette's hatred for the girl.

In Lisette's good end, Goldia manages to reach the true Lisette, tearfully apologizing with the promise that she will atone for all of her sins in Lisette's stead. Lisette finally forgives Goldia, which gives birth to an unbreakable bond between the two girls. Goldia also tells Lisette that she loves her just as much as Harpae and Fleta.

As shown in both Lisette's good end and her Bonus Room, she and Goldia developed a loving friendship with a mutual wish of wanting to have known and understood each other better.

Fleta and Harpae[]

Lisette is aware of their existence and views Fleta and Harpae as failures, and is often seen insulting them when speaking to Goldia.
