Lanz is one of the main characters of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He is a soldier from Keves and one of the 6 Ouroboros. He's been friends with Noah and Eunie since childhood. He is partnered up with Sena.
While fighting in the war against Agnus, he acted as a bodyguard for his best friend, Noah. At that time, he and his friends took part in a secret mission where they met with agnian soldiers, Mio, Sena and Taion. He also encountered their true enemy, Moebius, and became Ouroboros. The fateful event forced them to become a team, with which Lanz was hesitant about, but was fully aware that he had no other choice. After having become part of the team, he warmed up to the idea about possibly becoming like what had happened to Noah and Mio, which he eventually did.
Lanz contains traces of Machina, but in spite of that, he would not live for thousands of years and instead, has the same 10 year lifespan as every soldier of Keves and Agnus.
Lanz is one who was willing to take risks for his friends as well as take on the hefty burdens that Noah had decided on. While he doesn't exactly share the same moral mindset as Noah, such as when Noah sent off K after killing him, he does have some respect for his friend for his ongoing urge to always take the moral highroad, even if it meant honoring their enemies with a send off that they most likely don't deserve.
