Krohnen McDougall (クローネン・マクドガル) is a character from The King of Fighters series. He was introduced in The King of Fighters XV as the leader of the team that bears his first name, as well as having a strong resemblance to K9999. His official nickname is "Exceptional Esper" (なる).
He is voiced by KENN (alias of Ken'ichirō Ōhashi).
Appearance[]
Krohnen's appearance shares numerous similarities with K9999 and Nameless. First alluded to in the PS4 datamining reveal of KOF XV, and was at first, theorized as an outright inclusion of K9999 in the game despite issues surrounding his character, he is often theorized as SNK's answer to fan clamor in bringing back K9999 to the series without the elements that makes his appearance legally risky.
This has since been supplemented by the Team Stories focusing on Krohnen and his eponymous team. Eventually, the game confirms that Krohnen is indeed K9999, but using a new identity and figure to evade the surveillance of his old employers.
Personality[]
During the time he was K9999, he is considered to be a man not to be tampered with. He has a very short temper and is easily driven to violence. He hates K' with a passion and intensity, and considers him his ultimate rival.
He also develops a rivalry with Kusanagi in The King of Fighters 2002, though this is non-canon. Ángel, another NESTS agent, is the only person he considers to be a friend, but most of the time, K9999 despises everyone around him, including his superiors. In a fight, he attacks with such ferocity and strength that, at times, he doesn't even mind being hit, as long as his opponent falls to the ground. A true psychopath, K9999 continues the path to his own destruction.
As Krohnen, he is a very loud person with an extremely short temper, though he has matured somewhat since adopting his new identity (as Ángel pointed out his team's ending), claiming to be a changed person. An example of his maturity is shown during his ending with Ángel and Kula where he returns the latter to Foxy and Diana unharmed, and even giving Kula the prize money they earned from the tournament (which he planned to use for his and Ángel's own purposes). He hates Kyo Kusanagi and K' with passion and intensity. Though he has no personal grudge towards the original Kyo himself, he only fought him because Kyo's facial appearance during the fifteenth tournament (including his classic hairstyle and headband) reminded him of a Kyo-look alike fighter whom Krohnen held a grudge against. Towards those remotely showing kindness to him and his partner Ángel, he can be somewhat considerate, as he showed with Ramon.
