James is a mixed-traffic tender engine who works on the North Western Railway, usually working along the Main Line. He can be vain and sometimes boastful, but means well and is a hard worker. His personality overall is similar to that of Gary Oak from Pokémon. Despite this, he and Thomas remain somewhat close friends.
LOTM Storyline[]
Besides teasing Thomas, he has also joked around with other cartoon and anime characters, including some of the DigiDestined. However, they have rarely actually gotten genuinely angry with him.
LOTM: The Angels Return[]
James was among the members of the Steam Team who greeted and welcomed the Disney Angels and company to Sodor. He aided them in transportation to Vicarstown and the dieselworks, and even aided them in battle.
