Helgenish is a minor antagonist in Octopath Traveler. He is a fat, squat, ugly tavern keeper who keeps an array of exotic, scantily clad dancers to service and entertain his customers.
Biography[]
Helgenish is an utter brute who enslaves the dancers and regularly abuses, brutalizes, and demeans them with every opportunity he can. All those who displease him are viciously beaten to near-death by him and tossed into the gutter to die. Helgenish has ties to one of the other Crow Men, Rufus... trading in girls he fancies to become sex slaves in Rufus' parlor for a profit. Primrose Azelheart ends up in Helgenish's clutches, where he employs her as his star dancer and raises her for years under the same abuse as all the rest... while subjecting her to more specific attentions as well, with it being all but explicitly stated Helgenish constantly orally rapes her to whet his depraved appetite, with Primrose forced to keep up the guise of the obedient slave until she makes her move.
Helgenish forces Primrose to start dancing and servicing people on the streets as recompense for her latest dance being less than satisfactory, and soon after Primrose sees Rufus. Helgenish forces Primrose to perform when she tries to go after the Crow Man, but Primrose's only friend in the tavern, the timid Yusufa, covers for her to let her go after Rufus. Helgenish... when he finds out, isn't happy. Helgenish has his men brutally torture Yusufa, keeping her alive only long enough for Primrose to find them. Helgenish stabs her as soon as she does and tosses her off a cliff, cruelly mocking her last words and noting that "if she'd showed that kind of passion, maybe I would've kept her on longer!" Primrose finally turns on Helgenish and duels him.
Helgenish, after he's beaten, tries one last time to stab Primrose while her back is turned, only for her to spin around and mortally wound him instead, causing him to spin around and die in agony. "Quite the dancer yourself, in the end," Primrose notes... and off she goes to find Rufus.
Appearance[]
Helgenish is a fat, unpleasing man who is mostly bald, spare for reddish hair on the sides of his head and a small mustache. He wears a red shirt under a Napoleon-esqe jacket, white pants, and black pointed boots.
