Grand Moff Tarkin is the villain reponsible for the destruction of Princess Leia's home. He is played by Peter Cushing.
In ways, he is one of the most hated villains in Star Wars...even more so than the Emperor as he is not cool or electrifying like the Emperor but is hated by many.
