The Fire Nation is a nation from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It is an absolute monarchy led by the Fire Lord and is home to most Firebenders. It is located in the Western Hemisphere and is composed of several islands. Its capital is simply called the Fire Nation Capital.
It is the second largest nation in terms of area, next to the Earth Kingdom, while its economy is the most powerful in the world. The nation has a strong industrial sector and extensive technological developments, enabling it to create an extremely powerful military.

Fire Lord Sozin was responsible for leading the Fire Nation into a mass invasion that resulted in the near extinction of the Air Nomads, with the exception of Aang, the avatar that succeeded Sozin's childhood friend, Roku. This lead to a great war that would last a century into the reign of Sozin's grandson, Ozai. The war comes to an end when Aang defeats Ozai by using Energybending to take away his bending, Zuko and Katara defeating Azula, and Zuko being crowned Fire Lord. Zuko and the Earth King agreed to let the Fire Nation colonies remain in the Earth Kingdom, resulting in the formation of a fifth nation, the United Republic of Nations. Nearly seventy years later, Zuko relinquished the throne to his daughter, Izumi.
