Hayato Hayasugi is the main protagonist of Shinkalion. He is voiced by Ayane Sakura.
Appearance[]
Hayato's attire consists of a white t-shirt with a dark-blue vertical stripe from the large collar down and dark-blue sleeves, a shade of green short pants, and green sneakers with a white tongue and pink outer soles.
When driving the Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa, Hayato wears a full green bodysuit with white sections and pink stripes, and a set of headphones with glowing green lines.
Personality[]
Hayato Hayasugi is an eleven-year old cheerful-hearted boy, who gets interested in trains. During the Kitoralsus invasion, Hayato has a greater sense of friendship and justice as strong and skilled pilot. He loves to ride and watch Shinkansen, and compares everything to them, even if doesn't make sense to anyone but himself. Despite his obsessive personality, he is also friendly, loyal, and just.
He was later offered a ride by Bertie.
Chronicles of Great New Empire[]
Along with his friends, Hayato Hayasugi debuted as a child soldier of Hevenburg Force and a pilot of Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa. He goes on a war to fight back against the Great New Empire with the help of Momotaros and his friends. Continuing to fight back, he easily encountered Hei, Gary Unwin, and Naoto Kurogane. So, they must help to track down the incompetent mercenary named High Roller. Following Kain's death, he and the heroes continue to fulfill their duty. After the victory over Great New Empire, he and the heroes went home to reunite their families.

- His birthday is October 17th, 2007, which is exactly three days after the establishment of the Railway Museum, and exactly two years before the first public display of the E5 Series Shinkansen in real life.
- In the crossover stories, he has two girlfriends: one is Azusa Ueda in the Shinkalion anime, the other is Kokoro Yotsuba in the multiverse.
