The Enhanced Defense Intelligence, or EDI (pronounced 'Ee-Dee' [ˈiːdiː]), is an AI created by Cerberus and installed aboard the Normandy SR-2. She is represented visually by a holographic blue sphere and aurally with a feminine voice at various terminals throughout the ship where she can provide basic information about the Normandy and Cerberus.
In Mass Effect 2, she was just the ship's main AI but in Mass Effect 3, she received a robotic body and became a full-fledged squad member. He also went into a relationship with Joker, to which he jumped into with much zeal, unlike their first encounter when they would be at odds.
The Fayelons Story[]
EDI made her first appearance in the story alongside Joker. She was one of several who witnessed the Fayelons' transformation and first battle within the Milky Way galaxy. She continues to monitor them via the Normandy's systems as well as through her robotic body.
