Dr. Doppler (Ｄｒ．ドップラー Dr. Doppurā) is a Reploid scientist (the first of his kind) who serves as a major antagonist of the Mega Man X series. Prior to the games, Doppler was a gentle scientist and Dr. Cain best friend it was he who helped him build Sigma and made the special chair Cain had to use do to his old age, at one point he became infected with the maverick virus which turned him into a megalomaniac obsesed with destroying the human race, years later a supposedly reformed Doppler became famous for having seemingly created a vaccine to the Maverick Virus, and built Dopple Town with the assistance of the 'reformed' Mavericks who congregated around him. Unfortunately, it soon turned out that the "vaccine" was a placebo, and more Mavericks were created as a result. Doppler then became the leader of an army comprised of some of the most powerful Mavericks the world had ever seen.
Relationships
Dr. Cain
Dr. Cain used to be Doppler's college and most trusted friend until he went Maverick, they became famous inventors together and supported each other Ideas through the years, building Sigma, founding the Maverick Hunters or creating a vaccine against the Maverick Virus. When Doppler turned his back on his former life and his old friend, Cain was deeply saddened to see his friend descent into madness and tried to reason with him everytime they encountered each other, with Doppler never listening to him.
X
X has and still is one of Doppler's most important enemies having fooled most of his schemes either by himself or thanks to his many allies, despite this, Doppler never actually showed to hate the hunter, in fact he acted almost fatherly towards him as he was present for most of the early days X was released by Cain. Doppler tried more than once to get X to join his side either by giving him the choice which he always refused, or by trying to force him to, once even brainwashing him, Doppler never seemed to understand that his tendency to induce as much pain as posible on X friends only made this objective almost imposible. Doppler was in absolute shock when it seemed that even after everything that he had done, X, just like Cain, never lost the hope that Doppler may one day learn the wrong of his ways, with their last interactions in X3 and X4 being the only time in the series were Doppler came across as human and regretfull.
Zero
Surpraisingly, unlike X, Zero is perhaps the individual Doppler felt the most hatred towards. Even before completely going Maverick Doppler already had a complete and bitter disdain for the red reploid even when he was trying his best at being a Maverick Hunter, Doppler occasionally sended him in dangerous mission or gave him incomplete data on purpose, this sparked a direct conflict between the two who escalated to unmesurabble proportions once the Maverick Wars started and they were on opposite sides, with Doppler being one of the greatest torments Zero ever had to deal with. Some of his actions against him include: Partially responsible for his first death using Vile, Tortured him for 6 months, Cut him in Half, Made an evil copy of him, Brain-whased his best friend and forced them to fight one-another, Stole his data to create a virus, Crashed a helicopter on top of him, Tried to brain-whash him, Mind-Raped and Caused the death of the love of his life antagonizing him shortly afterwards, Causing him nightmares. Zero considers Doppler to be nothing more than a twisted mad man and old scrap.
Axl
At first Axl was nothing more than a nuissance to Doppler, but eventually Axl was able to thwart many of Doppler's plans during the war of destiny, which gained him both Doppler's surprise and disgust.
Sigma
Sigma was created by both Dr. Cain and Dr. Doppler and as such both had pride in him, so much so that Doppler quickly became Sigma's ally when he decided to start a rebellion, having worked with him ever since, even helping him create his organization along with Sektor, when Sigma was finally killed for good, with Doppler unable to recover his programming, he seemmed to be disapointed at both Sigma, Cain and himself, as he was one of the only two people that created him in the first place.
Gate
Gate was a researcher under Doppler's command back in his early days as a respected scientist, Doppler perceived him as a thread since Gate's reploids were pretty advanced for the mavericks to deal easily with and too complex to hack or corrupt them fast, so he staged a whole conspiration with the likes of the other researchers (who were envious of Gate) and Alia (who was tricked into doing it) to destroy Gate's creations and remove him from the picture altogether. Doppler was furious when years later Gate tried to take over the world using a virus he created out of Doppler's own work, when they were finally face to face during the multiversal war of destiny Doppler executed him in cold blood, not before fooling him to spat out his nightmare virus formula.
Wesker
Doppler started to work together with Wesker during the legends of light and darkness event to create a deadly virus that could finally wipe out humanity from the face of existence, but since Doppler never saw Wesker as an actual partner since he was or at the very least had once been a human he planned to betray him and steal the formula once it was done, which lead to a figh between the two, their plans were never realized however when the virus was destroyed by Dr. Cain and Zero.
Dr. Eggman
Dr. Eggman came to be pretty good frieds with Dr. Doppler, both sharing the goal of multiversal domination and wanting to turn all the population into robots. They created technology for Megatron and his army during to LOTM's finale, who in exchange gave them Decepticon thecnology to create giant robots to their disposal when the villains were eventually defeated, Both the doctors where send to the prison called the cube, along the dead and rotting corpse of Dr Weil, never to be seen again.
