Cyborg 009 a.k.a. Joe Shimomura is originally from Japan, although he is actually half-Japanese.
His unknown father was presumably a soldier in the U.S. Army stationed in Japan after World War II. A delinquent youth who was shunned by his peers because he was a half breed, he escaped from a juvenile detention facility before being captured by Black Ghost.
Ultimate Story[]
009 made his first appearance in Ultimate Story 4. He and the other cyborgs were summoned by Namine and was sent to Hollow Bastion. As soon as they arrived, 009 began to receive memories that belonged to both Sora and Roxas. A little afterwards, he gained the ability to wield the Keyblade and soon enough, 2 Keyblades at once.
When he and the rest of the group finally met Namine, they found out that she had summoned them and that she gave them the memories that belonged to the Organization XIII member in order to help out with defeating Ansem. From there, they went to join the Keyblade force and help them without hesitation.
