Clefairy is a unique kind of Pokemon. It was introduced in Generation I. It started out as a Normal-type Pokemon, but since Generation VI, its type was changed to Fairy-type.
It can evolve into Clefable with the use of a Moon Stone. It was discovered in Generation II that is the evolved form of Cleffa.
Its name is a combination of clef, which is French for (musical) note, and fairy.
It's Japanese name is ピッピ Pippi, which is possibly a shortening and repetition of pixie.
On every night of a full moon, groups of this Pokémon come out to play. When dawn arrives, the tired Clefairy return to their quiet mountain retreats and go to sleep nestled up against each other.
Ultimate Story[]
In the story, the Clefairies used to have been an alien race that lived on a planet named Moones. However, Andross invaded their planet, chasing away the Clefairies while reducing it to a toxic wasteland and renamed it Venom.
In the Journey Through Kanto, Clefairy was one of the holders of the Pokemon stones. The group came across it within Mt. Moon. Its stone was the fifth stone that they've managed to find.
