Dr. Christian Szell or simply Szell (also known as: The White Angel of Auschwitz) is the primary antagonist of the novel Marathon Man and its 1976 film adaptation. He is an international terrorist, a diamond
dealer, a war criminal and a Nazi scientist who used to torture the prisoners of Auschwitz by dental surgeries. He is intent on gaining luxury diamonds that he retrieved from an international deal.
He was portrayed by the legendary late actor Laurence Olivier who later won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
