History

His world was eventually relieved by the Imperial Fists, and the young Valon was tithed into their ranks, a promising recruit forged in fire and hate for the warmaster, Horus, and his followers.

The First High Marshal's Shadow: Valon trained under the watchful eye of the legendary Sigismund, the first and greatest Emperor's Champion. Sigismund's unyielding faith and martial purity became Valon's guiding light. Valon rose quickly to the rank of Champion within the nascent Black Templars Chapter after the Scouring, fighting at the side of his mentor on countless crusades across the galaxy.

The Oath of Vengeance: Centuries later, during the first Black Crusade, the two-centuries-old Abaddon the Despoiler slew a thousand-year-old Sigismund in single combat aboard the Eternal Crusader. Sigismund's last act was to send his sword back to the Chapter, a dying testament. It was this moment that forever altered Valon's path. He was one of the first to witness the returned sword, and in that moment, he took a solemn, unbreakable vow to personally avenge the death of the High Marshal and eradicate Abaddon and all his works.

The Eternal Crusader: Since that day, Valon Tasol has prosecuted an endless, private war against the forces of Chaos, particularly those of the Black Legion. He has refused the mantle of High Marshal or even Marshal, preferring to remain a simple "Champion" on a personal quest that has lasted millennia.
