Belphegor, also known as the God of Sloth, is a major antagonist in the Xander Michael Shelton's Heaven and Earth franchise. He is the archenemy of Archangel Uriel, who was the one who banished him from Heaven for not choosing sides between God and Lucifer, and not using his technology to rebuild the Heavenly Republic.
Belphegor was a languorous yet immensely intelligent and powerful Fallen Angel-turned-God of Sloth, who ruled over the technology advanced Sloth Realm. He was also the leader of his faction of the Satanic Empire that built and developed advanced, innovative, and futuristic technology to ensure that man and demon succumbed to the desire for convenience.

Background[]
Belphegor was one of the Angels created by God to stop and banish Amara and her powerful army of Abyssal Demons back to the Abyss for millennia. After the Omniverse was made, he started developing strange and intricate objects from advanced technology, such as his Belphe-Tentacles and Cyber Venoms, foreshadowing his true nature. He was a selfish, insufferable genius who bragged about how his inventions benefit him and him alone. Due to that, he refused to share his ingenious inventions with anyone, and when Archangel Uriel attempted to convince Belphegor on being more charitable with his inventions and use them to help the disabled, he disrespectfully fell asleep during their lecture.
After God created Humans on the sixth day, Belphegor defied God's order for the Heavenly Republic to love them more than himself. Just before the War in Heaven, he lurked in the shadows watching Lucifer gathering and manipulating a third of countless Angels into siding with him in his quest to conquer the Omniverse and overthrow God. Learning about this, Belphegor decided to start a war on the Heavenly Republic on his own. To do that, he turned thousands of Angels into his robotic slave army with and without his Cyber Venoms. Due to his apathy, he didn't care about the upcoming devastation caused to Heaven or the Omniverse at large.
Fall from Grace[]
During the War in Heaven, Belphegor and his robotic army of thousands of cyber-slaved Angels charged at the Heavenly Republic while Lucifer's forces were doing the same thing at the same time. He started to kill thousands of Angels who were trying to stop him. Seeing that Archangel Uriel was taking down a hivemind of Angels known as Legion, Belphegor confronted him as the latter attempted to bring him before God to be punished alongside the rebels for not choosing sides. Uriel offered him redemption to rebuild the scared beyond-omniversal realm, and heal those who were injured and in critical condition. However, after hearing this offer, Belphegor refused and taunted him by revealing that he turned thousands into his robotic slaves.
Seeing that Uriel decided to fight him, Belphegor engaged him in a violent duel. He used his Belphe-Tentacles to shoot lasers at him far away, and to attack him closer. After Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan, Mammon, and Asmodeus were banished from Heaven, Belphegor was defeated by Uriel, who later banished him from Heaven, resulting in his transformation into the Archdemon of Sloth.
Archdemon God of Sloth[]
After his fall from grace, Belphegor turned himself into a powerful cyborg to become stronger. After the Satanic Empire was built, he was appointed by Emperor Satan as the ruler of the Sloth Realm, he built and used his faction of the massive empire to invent millions of artificial intelligence to cater to everyone in the realm as a way to encourage inactivity and make them depend on technology for everything. Not only he had stripped them of their free will, but he also had rendered their lives completely automated.
Over countless millennia, Belphegor mass marketed his technology and weapons throughout Hell, becoming extremely rich with great wealth and allowing him to bring his inventions up to a next level. He also made great wealth by selling his inventions to kingpins and Overlords. Belphegor had all Sloth-native Hellhounds raised and conditioned as slaves and pets from as young as their infancy. He also had them raised in horrible conditions to be slaves and pets through inhumane methods. They would be put to death if they weren't sold by 18 years of age. This resulted in countless Hellhounds being horribly mistreated, robbed of their childhoods, and traumatized from their experiences in the Sloth Realm. While Hellhounds were regarded as slaves and pets thanks to his slavery towards them, Belphegor also had forced the Slothful into building inventions without peace or rest. He had them thrown into a snake pit and turned into his robotic slaves if they were too slow and they chose to defy him.
Time on Earth[]
Years before the 19th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, Belphegor was sent on an observation mission by Satan to find out if there was such a thing as married happiness on Planet Earth, as well as all of its alternate universal variants. He had seduced thousands of people by inspiring them with ideas for ingenious inventions that would make them rich and famous. However, he corrupted them in the process, causing them to grow selfish and paranoid of someone stealing their invention and success.
During the entire dynasty, Belphegor posed as a pagan deity known as Baal Peor. Leading the Moabites astray from God's path, he was treated as a phallic deity, associated with sex, orgies, and all forms of debauchery in general. His experiences would soon convince him that the rumor of married happiness was baseless.
During the Exodus era, Belphegor continued posing as Baal Peor, and some factions of the Hebrews started making sacrifices to Belphegor. This was due to their relations with the women of Moab, who seduced them to their local god. Despite this, Moses was upset about these sacrifices so much that he began to convict those who were worshiping Belphegor to death. As a result, Belphegor had 24,000 people killed. This act also applied to every Earth across the Multiverse.

After the Exodus era, Belphegor plotted to launch an attack on Heaven and the Heavenly Republic by gathering up his massive army of Cyber Demons and Cyber Monsters across the Omniverse. He noticed that Pestilence doubled up the Ten Plagues and caused the rise of the dead Egyptians as his Zombie Army with little to no concern. It was revealed that he already made the Cyber Venoms that allowed Belphegor and his army to turn victims into his robotic slaves. Alongside Pestilence, he would cause the Omniverse-wide plague, but his uniqueness of the plague were his Cyber Venoms.
Personality[]
After being created by God, Belphegor was an honorable Angel who assisted his Father in banishing Amara and her Abyssal Demon army back to the Abyss. However, it all changed when God continued the Omniverse's development. He became characterized by apathy, egotism, and indolence. He had a full hatred for free will, and believed that all lifeforms in the Omniverse should depend on technology to carry out their tasks for them, which would cause them to become demanding, lazy, and selfish.
Relationships[]
Archangel Uriel[]
Archangel Uriel was one of Belphegor's fellow Angels. They seemed to care for each other at first, but as the time went on, Belphegor became very indolent and selfish while Uriel was very selfless. When Uriel attempted to convince him to use his inventions for the better, Belphegor refused by rudely falling asleep during his offer for redemption so Uriel would still try to change him for the better despite Belphegor's irredeemable nature.
When the War in Heaven occurred, Belphegor's army was heading towards the Heavenly Republic and he himself was facing Uriel alone. After Uriel defeated the Legion, Belphegor discarded his friendship with Uriel as the latter refused to join him so he attempted to kill him without remorse. After Uriel banished him from Heaven, Belphegor vowed revenge against Uriel by attempting to kill his faction of the Heavenly Republic for good.
