Articuno (Japanese: フリーザー Freezer) is a dual-type Ice/Flying Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Along with Zapdos and Moltres, it is one of the three Legendary birds of Kanto.
Articuno is a legendary bird Pokémon that can control ice. The flapping of its wings chills the air. As a result, it is said that when this Pokémon flies, snow will fall.
Its name is a combination of arctic and uno, the spanish word for one. This is because this is the first of the 3 legendary bird Pokemon.
