Anya Forger (アーニャ・フォージャー, Ānya Fōjā?) is the deuteragonist of the SPY x FAMILY series. Formerly known as Test Subject "007" (被験体"007", Hikentai "007"?), she is a telepath whose abilities were created in an experiment conducted by an unknown organization.
She is a student in Cecile Hall at Eden Academy and the adopted daughter of Loid Forger and Yor Forger.
Appearance[]
Anya is a short young girl with fair skin and green eyes. Loid describes her as appearing about four to five years old at the oldest. Her green eyes are large and oval-shaped with prominent eyelashes. She has shoulder-length, light pink hair that curls inwards with a fringe that reaches just above her eyes and a small strand of ahoge at the top of her head. Anya is noticeably shorter than most of her peers, and many of the insults that Damian and his friends target at for her small size. However, in Damian's view, she gains a prettier appearance.
When Loid met Anya for the first time in the orphanage, she wore a simple black dress with a white ribbon at the front, along with white folded-down socks and black shoes. She also wears two black hair ornaments with bright yellow embellishments resembling small horns on the sides of her head. Anya is never seen with her hair ornaments off, even wearing them to sleep. At Eden Academy, Anya wears the standard uniform with white knee-high socks and black Mary Janes. She carries around a brown schoolbag with a sheep keychain attached. During physical education class, Anya ties her hair back with a red headband when wearing the school gym uniform, along with white socks and white gym shoes.
When she was younger, her hair was slightly shorter, and she did not wear her horn-like hair ornaments, instead tying her hair into small buns at the sides of her head. She also wore clothing that resembled scrubs.
Personality[]
Anya is a bubbly and cheerful young girl. She appears to be much smarter than she actually is, and while this is probably true to an extent, this is likely artificially inflated because she can read other people's minds, a fact that nobody aside from her is aware of.
Being an orphan who's hopped between several families before becoming a Forger, she became quickly attached to Loid and Yor as her father and mother respectively. She's also eager to make friends in general, seeing as she had none while at the orphanage. However, despite her apparent maturity, there are aspects of her that reminds you of her age, such as how quickly she became violent towards Damian Desmond, who was teasing her, likely remembering that her father did the same thing to the guy during her school interview for making her cry.
However, she respects the desires of her parents a lot, and when her mother asked her not to punch people who displease her, and instead smile at them, she did as she was told, although with visible discomfort, noting that she feels her mother lied when she told her that it would make her feel better and defuse the situation.
Unlike most children, who likely would have been scared of Yor's and Loid's occupations, (assassin and spy respectively), when Anya found out about these facts by reading their minds, (they're still unaware that she knows), she thought they were the coolest thing ever and desperately wanted to be their daughter. In fact, she's responsible for Yor becoming her mother, by pretending to be sad and lonely that she didn't have a mother, which caught Yor's eye, and also caused Loid to pursue Yor more directly.
Relationships[]
Loid Forger[]
Anya initially wishes to follow Loid out of curiosity and admiration for his secret identity as a spy. After Loid rescues her from her kidnappers, she becomes increasingly attached to Loid as a father figure and chooses to remain with him despite being given an offer to go to a better orphanage. Loid also views her as a replaceable tool for his mission at first, though he later comes to genuinely care for her. She hides her telepathic abilities from Loid because she is afraid of being abandoned by him.
Anya deeply cares for her adoptive father, as she considers him as one of her favorite things and becomes greatly attached to the stuffed penguin he won for her as a gift during their aquarium trip. When Bond rips it up, Anya is more upset due to the fact it was a gift from Loid and does not want a new one. Despite her mind-reading powers, Anya still feels insecure about whether Loid likes her or not, as his mind is too complicated for her to understand his feelings.
Yor Forger[]
Yor Forger is the adoptive mother of Anya, who addresses her as "Mama" immediately after she moves in. Anya manipulates Yor and Loid together upon discovering Yor's identity as an assassin and being interested in the concept of spies and assassins.
When they do initially get along and even hold hands, Anya becomes shocked when Yor is reminded of her brother's accidental injury caused by her hugging him too hard, dashing away from Yor. Yor tries her best to be a better mother for Anya after the admissions interview despite knowing its a fake family, by trying to improve her cooking. When Yor is discouraged by her failure, Anya comforts her and admires her strength, getting Yor to train her. Although Anya is fond of Yor, Anya is often blunt towards Yor's flaws, particularly her bad cooking, and often hurts her feelings visibly. Lacking many of her husband's emotional barriers and having raised her younger brother, Yor is more often openly affectionate towards Anya than Loid is.
Yuri Briar[]
Anya first meets Yuri in person when Yor calls him over to tutor Anya for her midterm exams. Neither of them have a good impression of the other due to Yuri's dislike of Loid and his child, while Anya gets creeped out from Yuri's overly obsessive thoughts about his sister. Using Yuri's love for Yor, Anya is able to persuade him into tutoring her seriously and he eventually shares his motivation for studying when he was younger. Although Yuri later stomps off in frustration when she fails to learn anything, his story allows Anya to reflect on the recent bombing incident and how she could have better helped Loid if she were more knowledgeable.
