Anton Ivanov, known to his subordinates as the Superior, is the current leader of the Watchdogs and a former member of the SVR who sought revenge against S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson for indirectly causing the executions of his unit members and for being the alleged root of Earth's extraterrestrial problems.
