Akihiro Kanou (in Japanese: 嘉納 明博, Kanō Akihiro), often referred to as Professor Kanou (in Japanese: 嘉納教授, Kanō-kyōju), is a physician at Kanou General Hospital and is the central character responsible for turning Ken Kaneki into an Artificial One-Eyed Ghoul. He was a member of the Aogiri Tree despite being a human, and an associate of the Clowns, helping them by creating artificial ghoul soldiers. He serves as one of the five main antagonists of the Tokyo Ghoul franchise, alongside Rize Kamishiro, Eto Yoshimura, Kichimura Washuu and Tsuneyoshi Washuu.
He was voiced by Kenji Nomura in the Japanese version and Mark Stoddard in the English version.
